im having issues with my email. first few days everything was fine but over the past two days i have not been receiving my emails. I have two hotmail accounts and one gmail. They seem to come really late or not at all until i refresh in the mail app. Also when i do get emails i check them and they come again later. This is driving me nuts. Im new to andriods. Coming for a BB.

Also if i turn off syncing does that mean i wont get notifications from facebook or emails?

If you turn off auto sync then yeah you wont get them until you manually refresh.
For clarification sake is both your email and gmail not coming on demand? Gmail can be pushed auto sync but I think hotmail via the email app is only every 5 minutes. I assume you have hotmail in email app and gmail for gmail app?

I have both Hotmail and Gmail accounts set up in the email app. Weird. I had turned off the background sync and auto sync because I read it'll help save battery life and I just received an email, which was one I had already received and deleted. !!!

Another possible issue I'm having....
My battery was at 75% and using the internet right now for about 10-15 mins it has already dropped to 57. Using battery checker free from the market. Its a widget that loks like a gas gauge and displays a percentage. Is the program not accurate maybe? Is it draining my battery? Is my battery a lemon? I have only the calender widget running. Using LP plus, no syncing and no running apps according to task manager. This morning I took it off the charger at 5 and by 7 it was already at 92%. Used the internet looking into my problems for a total of about an hr, no calls, no texts and had the mp3 player on for about 3 hrs. By 2pm my battery was just about dead. I read people are getting more battery life using it about double the amount I am.

Thinking I might try to take the phone back to best buy.

Just turned the screen brightness all the way down. Will see what kind of difference that makes.
Might be a bad battery. Widgets and any auto updates do drain. All data transmission drains. Brightness down helps. A lot depends on usage and how much your screen is lit. Your use sounds about right. If you took it off at 5 and 2 hours later were at 92% thats not bad. 4% per hour gets you thru the day. That also assumes you were at 100% when you pulled it off the charger. The SF stops charging at 100% and lets the battery drain down to 95-96% before recharging itself back to 100% and repeat. An hour on the internet will drain you 15-20% depending on 3G versus WiFi. 3 hours on the mp3 depend on your screen being on or off but on you could be draining 15-18% per hour again. So 3 hours will drain a lot. Now screen off its like half that or less.
Not sure how long you've had the SF. Battery does seem better after a week.
Also if you run live wallpaper thats a drain as well.
There's a lot you can do on your end to improve the battery life.
Of course some are duds too

Is that 4% an hr figure refer to standby time because I did not touch the phone for the two hours. And I think I took it off saying 98%. Mp3 was playing with the screen off about 80% as I was using it while surfing the net. No live wallpaper running either.
Yeah, lets monitor it today further then 4% on hour if you dont transmit any data and the screen is off is less than normal honestly 1% is more more if its purely sleeping. Try and pay attention to it today

it dropped about 4% this morning. pulled it off the charger at 630 with 96% and by 730 it was at 92. Not sure if it was trasmitting because the screen was off and i never looked at it but the background sync was off. Oh and btw got the phone this past friday so almost a week old. Did 3 full drain and charge cycles...i know people say its unneccsary.

Keep watching it. Many of us, myself included seem to notice the battery % indicator goes down faster from 100-85% or so. There seems to be certain zones where its reports draining faster and others where it goes slower. For instance, sometimes I seem to stay in the 60's% and the 30-45% zone also seems to drain slower per se. The % is still just a guesstimation. If your at like 20% or less when you go to sleep and you dont have anything auto syncing and minimal use you might just have a poor battery

Surfed the internet for about an hr, played music for an hour and a half, and played angry birds for like 5 mins and i was at 20% by 3pm (no syncing and lowest screen brightness). im Gonna try to not use the phone at all tomorrow and see what happens.

Thanks for the help!
Yeah ok based on that it would seem your battery life's sub-par

Oh and what happens to the apps I paid for?

have them hard reset the phone back to factory settings Settings>privacy>factory data reset,

the apps will be backed up in the market with your gmail account.
Yes anything you paid for will re-load once you re-DL it. No second charge. Thats for Market apps only however. If you got stuff thru Gameloft or anyone not in market it might be a different story. Thats kinda a case by case basis
