Root CM 6.1 Performance

Alright, I waited for a day here to see if anyone posted something similar, and saw that my post on xda got buried last night by some intense trolling (and market going down), so here it is.

What kind of performance are you seeing with 6.1? I'm pretty unhappy with the speed it takes for the app slider, page scrolling and all that. I didn't run a quadrant score, I'm not really bothered about numbers.

I switched to LP, that didn't help. Also, snap kernels are not playing nice with 6.1 yet (anyhow, the snap kernel features are reportedly built in), so nothing there.

I'm back to myn2.2 with overclocking and it's smooth as silk. Any ideas?

I was running CM6 and just went to CM6.1RC1 on release day and I feel the update runs faster and smoother for me. I don't normally do scores and just go off of my feel and for me this is running smoother. Not sure I can really offer any help. It could be applications installed or many things. You could always try flashing again.

I didn't use a different kernel. I love the ROM and I do miss the 4G, but for me I would rather have the perks of AOSP. I love having the original dialer back.

I thought this until I discovered Myn.

+1 on this
I've been running cyanogen rom from alpha day 1 on my hero, in the irc from time to time, flashing the nightlies and all that. First thing I did when I got my evo last week was root and flash cyanogen. I decided to flash myn's warm monday and for the life of me, I can't even make my self flash cyanogen 6.1 to see what's good.

Maybe I'll flash it tonight so I can actually contribute something useful to this thread :p

I've tried Myn, and , there is no doubt that is the best Sense ROM..
But, for me, I like the little things CM6 does, like kill apps with the back button, use the menu button to unlock, allows you to set "Quiet time", how ADW integrates so nicely with the OS, and, frankly, i just hate sliding the damn slider down all the time to unlock a Sense ROM...
My 4G hasn't worked in ages since I flashed a radio update a long time ago, so, there is no compelling reason for me to use a Sense Rom right now...
I guess just like anything else, its what your personal preference ends up being...

Hmm, saw this on XDA too, what's up with the feelings against sense? I like how it brings everything together in the contacts, I like the widgets and UI. And damn, myn makes sense fly

Personally, I just don't care for Sense and I really don't like the Sense dialer. My first Android phone was the Moto Droid which was vanilla Android so that might be where my preference comes from. For the dialer, I know people think the Sense dialer is superior, but for me I need the dialpad and the mute button visible to me at both times. I do a lot of conference calls and I use my BT headset. I need to be able to use the dialpad to join conferences, change conferences, and interact with some things on the conference line, all while I can access the mute button so I can talk when I need to. On the ASOP dailer, the dialpad just covers the photo, but leaves all other buttons accessible.

im in love with this rom. well organized. snappier. and seems to be better on bat life. im running snapturbo CFS 7.6 with this quadrant. if performance is what you are looking, performance is what you are gonna get either with BFS or CFS.

link for snap 7.6

you dont have Turbo enabled, do you?
and, how did you flash the kernel so as not to get bootloops?

Are you running any theme as well?

thanx

yea, i have turbo enabled. im using the CFS vs BFS. CFS kernel is slower, but has better bat life. i was running BFS on CM6, check my sig line for my quadrant score. thought id try out CFS with this new rom to see if there is really any difference. so far, to my eye, i dont see anything different between the CFS and BFS except for the quadrant scores.

after installing 6.1, of course, i did a backup. after backup, cleared cache and delvick. then flashed snap7.6. booted. enabled turbo, let it do its 5steps. phone rebooted. took about 10-12min from start to finish.

edit to add, no i am not running any themes. not any im pleased with for aosp roms. im using launcher pro and just hide the notification bar. im also using a custom font i found on xda.

i am about to try my luck with these Index of ./v7.x/v7.6/experimental/cfs/ zImages to bring down the HAVS to get better bat life.

only able to get zImagev7.6-havs875 to work. guess thats better than 925 :D

havs stands for 'hybrid adaptive voltage scaling'

The purpose of HAVS is to minimize the power used by the CPU by determining and setting the optimal voltage. At the same time, the maximum voltage by which HAVS can scale to is fixed to a specified voltage depending on the CPU frequency in order to prevent scaling to a higher voltage than what is normally used at a specified voltage. The optimal voltage is actively determined for each frequency and temperature. HAVS actively adjusts the CPU voltage as the CPU frequency and temperature changes.

Does Bluetooth and wifi work ok for you?
I havent been able to get BT to work with turbo enabled on 7.6BFS with RC1..

I did NOT try 7.6CFS though..

after testing over 24hours with this zimage, i am unhappy and restored back to regular cm6.1.RC1 with snap7.6 cfs havs925. with the havs875, there were a lot of random reboots. i guess my cpu cant handle lower voltages.

Been running CM6.1 with Snapturbo for a few days now, and battery life is getting better and better. It's been 14h and 10m since last unplugged and still have %68. I did recalibrate my battery after the first day.
Quadrant score are highest I've ever seen (2615). I would put up some screen shots but for some reason shootme does not like me, keeps telling me that my files are to large...oh well.
