Verizon iPhone confirmed...what about Sprint?!

Is there anyway in he!! Sprint will get the iPhone too or do they just not have the resources to make this happen?

If it's the iPhone 4, but just a CDMA version, than no thank you. The EPIC 4G (and the EVO as well) are superior devices. And besides, one could probably unlock their Verizon iPhone to work on Sprint's network (I'm not sure if that will allow for 3G, though) similar to how people today can unlock their AT&T iPhones to work on T-Mobile's EDGE network.

That's not possible. You can't activate a non Sprint phone on Sprint period.

There are ways to flash CDMA devices. Flashing is pretty much the CDMA equivalent to GSM's unlocking. MetroPCS did this.

Sprint would be foolish not to accept flashed Verizon iPhones. They are losing customers by the latest financial reports. iPhone fanboys looking for a better deal on their monthly service would be interested in Sprint, thus increasing their subscriber base.

Yes, they sell a lot of iPhones on AT&T but would sell more on other carriers because there are many that complain about AT&T service but only stay for the iPhone. I don't blame you. I used to want an iPhone before Androids got so good. And I was on AT&T too, but they don't allow you to buy iPhones at full retail and I wasn't eligible to upgrade, so I got the Tilt 2. That's when I realized how expensive it is to own a smartphone on AT&T and I switched to Sprint as soon as the EVO came out.

Demand drives up prices. Look at ATT, their customers are paying a fortune for their plans even though ATT's network is subpar, just becuase of the iPhone. I like Sprint becuase it has a solid network and the best plans in the business. Remember, we're the only national carrier with truly unlimited data. Its so nice not having to monitor your useage and never have overage fees on your bill! All for 69/79 bucks!

I don't think it would be that bad. It's only like that on AT&T because that's the only carrier you can get an iPhone on. If all the major carriers had it than people wanting an iPhone would compare carriers before buying one. Thus, the major carriers would need to compete to attract iPhone customers.

I think a deciding factor might be battery life between a CDMA version and the GSM version.

The first iPhone was EDGE (2G) data only, because 3G was such a battery killer. It wasn't until the second version, that they were able to support 3G, and be more battery-friendly.

I'm actually surprised that they are releasing a CDMA version, as opposed to waiting for Verizon to go LTE. I think that's supposed to launch in 2011, unless the timetable has changed.

Actually Sprint has been gaining customers for the last 2 Q's...added 644K in Q3....would've been better without IDEN/NEXTEL....

I doubt Sprint will get iP4 due to how much they'd have to give to Apple. Sprint doesn't have the $ to blow like VZW.

I don't think it would be a good idea right now because the 3G network would take a hit. BTW, we'll feel a little hit any way because of the roaming agreement with VZW.

Even if it comes, I'd never get one anyway. Though Apple would benefit from iP4 on all networks, what does Sprint gain? You can say new customers, but I cannot see Sprint offering existing Unlimited Plans while VZW charges more - that won't work for Apple.

Again, Sprint should focus on Wimax deployment and enhancements. iP4 is just a distraction. There are going to be plenty of tablets and other ways to build customer choices.

Yes. iDEN is just a burden on Sprint now. They need to let it die off and offer Nextel subscribers a contract extension free upgrade with $50 credit to shift them onto their CDMA service.

I mean, they owned Helio and let that die off rather quickly.

I heard that Sprint WAS killing off IDEN, just didn't hear when. Hubby would like to know because he has an i1. I want an iPhone because it just works! Hardware wise, not AT&T. I love the Android concept they are just so buggy and laggy.

Nextel still has better coverage in some areas. Relatives in Illinois switched over from Nextel to Sprint CDMA this summer and had to get an airave to get service inside their house, a problem they'd never had before. The coverage maps lie. Sprint will need to make sure they don't leave anybody out in the cold if they do kill iDEN.

Dan hesse in the sprint INTRANET has stayed nextel will be around for at least 3-5 more years but it sounds like they maybe pushing dual mode CDMA/IDEN(gsm) phones for nextel years in a year or so to make the change much easier for them when they do shut it down. I am not surprised they are killing it sprint has wanted to kill it for a long time

probably sprint will get the iphone in 4 years just like verizon.
im pretty sure you can flash cdma phones to different cdma networks
like flashing verizon and sprint phones onto metro pcs and so on.
