I switched my Xbox on for the first time in months and it took over 30 minutes to update, the dashboard is even laggier than before, and I have no interest in Kinect or it's kiddie games.
So no, it's lame and worthless, and a backwards step.
Anyone want to buy a Xbox360 Elite? I really have no use for mine since getting a PS3 and having a PC.
i dont think its laggy at all but I'm not a fan of the new look. I dont like all the white menu screens, for one. I find scrolling to be a bit disorienting, especially when each friend pops out at you for a second. i miss when the menu's were behind each other like the prev dashboard
I don't mind it. I just put my Forza Motorsport 3 theme on it. It's going to take a few days for the system to settle with so many people having to update to it.
Its not very exciting but i think its more functional. Less lag to me, especially with the guide button. And yes...the original dash, the blades, was best.
The blades were full screen pages for games/media etc. separated by vertical "blades" you scroll through with a satisfying swoosh sound. You can do a google image search for xbox blade dashboard if you want to see what it looked like
I absolutely love the new dashboard. I just got a new Sprint theme that makes the background all white, which looks amazing with the new XBL and kind of mimics WP7... which I like aesthetically.
Also, the ESPN app is pretty slick. Can't wait to try it out for VT vs. GT on Thursday (I think that's when it's on).
Has anyone found a way to sign into an existing zune pass account? I use zune tons but i couldnt find a log in spot in the new zune app thing with the new dashboard
I have no serious complaints of the new XBL Dashboard. I'm not a big fan of how it appears but I could care less for appearances. I just use my Mass Effect 2 Premium Theme and disregard the rest. I do love the addition of Netflix searching and Zune Music Pass though.
Could not disagree more. While I can understand why people would prefer the pre-11/10 dashboard to the 11/10-onward dash, the original software that shipped on the 360 was just ugly. The "New Xbox Experience" that replaced it was worlds better looking and functioning.

I'm not a fan of the advertising, bloat and crap that came after the first dashboard and has only increased ever since. Each new version is months/years of effort to try to figure out a way to cram more sales into the dashboard. Sad. The new ones seems snappier for me than the previous one but I can see where others miss the original.
It was just so clunky. From a purely navigational standpoint, if all the commercial elements were removed, the new dashboards are presented better. In fact, the original has essentially been condensed into the guide that pops up when you hit the Xbox button.

But they're not. And the fact of the matter is that, while the original dashboard wasn't as pretty aesthetically it was certainly cleaner in that each item you scrolled to was an item you were interested in at some point. Not you have to scroll past several advertisements just to get to what you want to select. Some even have audio! Ugh. It's going to be out of hand before too much longer and while I don't really care too much one way or another I can certainly see where some people are stating that they miss the original dashboard and don't think they should be told their opinion is wrong.
There are audio adverts in regular dash navigation?
Never once have I seen that. They're generally unobtrusive to me. Also, Zune, ESPN, and Netflix are right at the front of the video section, like Zune and last.fm are in the music tab.

Yes, as you scroll through the menu you will see some of the pages that have video moving and when you scroll over that one the audio plays until you scroll to the next one. Sometimes there can be several per row so it's quite annoying. It's bad enough we pay $60/yr or whatever for LIVE but now we have to be advertised to as well? Seems like with these advertisements they could make LIVE free by now. I would be happy with that but as it is it just seems real greedy to me and most people I know.
