thats like the second most annoying thing!!!! I HAVE A CASE, but i took it off cause i was using the camera and i have to take the back off.....
i dont like the silicone ones as they are tick and stick inside jeans, anyone on here know of a good plastic hard case? or would it be better to change the top housing?

damn, that sucks. I have a semi hard plastic case for my desire. I was tempted many times to remove it as well because it just feels so much nicer and sleeker but that's my worry, it'll also be easier to slip outta my hands.

Check this site below. It may have replacement backings or other case parts.

Wow....some of that stuff is really cheap. I wonder if the quality is any good. 2600mAh battery and case for 20$ ? wow.

Know what you mean about them sticking in pockets but the silicone case I've got has a different kind of back that makes it slide in and out of pockets really easily. Have a look at it here

NEW GRAY FLEXISHIELD GEL CASE COVER FOR HTC DESIRE UK on eBay (end time 18-Nov-10 00:52:51 GMT)

The sides are still nice and grippy so it feels safe in your hands. It also protects the camera as its slightly raised off any surface.

Can not rate this highly enough!

I've got a screen protector but I tend to subscribe to the point of view advocated by CNET UK's Flora Graham in one of their receont podcasts (and I'm paraphrasing here a bit) - if the phone is so delecate that it needs a case to survive everyday use, it's designed all wrong and I don't want it.
Wonder what she thinks of the iphone4 that needs a case to make a call! ;)

I use the case so I don't have to worry about scratching the sides and back when I place it on a desk. Drop protections is a secondary concern - I make sure I got a good grip on it!

Never used a screen protector. The screen is very resistant to scratches as long as you don't do something stupid like put it in your pocket with coins and keys.

Same case as Eris Ed and very happy with it.

I use screen protector's off ebay as well just to be on the safe side. My sister started getting small scratches on her Desire and she couldn't work out where they were coming from until she realised it was from her earrings! Convinced me to get a screen protector - not that I wear earrings! ;) Easy to put on and once on you never notice it.

Had a gel case since day 1. Very snug, not sticky in the pocket, and looks like it's part of the phone!
Same here, the gel case I bought has been on since a few days after I bought it. I would have had it since day one too if it was in stock, but they didn't have any for almost a week. The gel case I have is identical to yours and is labeled as a "hydro gel case" online. I paid $10 CDN for it directly from a local Telus store. It fits well and is grippy, but not sticky like a silicone case. I like how it's somewhat stiff which makes pressing the volume and power buttons more resistant to accidental presses - nice bonus.

I have the same or something very similar. I can't fault it.
