Hello All,

I've been reading a lot of people getting erros while trying to check for samsung updates on the Captivate. I experienced this as well. I narrowed the problem to various Task Manager apps killing the "Device Management" task that is native to the captivate and launches after each reboot. When this task is killed, you will recieve the "DM Initialisation Error...Check your network or Sim Card" message every time you try to check for an update.

Solution: Reboot and exclude the Device Management process from any of your task killers.

Hope this helps!

This will fix it.
Settings.
applications.
Manage applications.
Soft menu key--- filter
Select running.
Device management
under storage click clear data...

This doesn't always work, fyi. It didn't for me. I don't understand why it's such a big deal, kies will have any update for us. 2.2 will probably be our last significant one and that is going to be available off kies only.
