Nov. Maintenance OTA Update Discussion Thread

Cool. They're still missing some of the big issues with Froyo though. Hope they just didn't list them in the press release. But who knows when we will see this. Hope that since we have the official Verizon press releases it won't be too long. Though I do have a feeling that HTC and Verizon will still play update hockey for a little while before they push it.

Edit:

They're fixing the battery life. The screen shot of Droidlife isn't the whole release. Here's the link to Verizon's site for the update with the whole release:

Software Update: DROID INCREDIBLE by HTC

Hmm...I still didn't see the stuff about Battery Fixes. My biggest concern is the dropping of 3G and my stupid GPS going psyco on me...

I didn't notice anything about battery fixes either, but that is definitely something that the phone can use. Rather than focusing on forcing their VCast applications on us, they need to focus on improving the not so great battery life. I have a feeling putting more of their poorly coded applications on the phone will just slow it down and kill the battery even faster.

There's always something updates wont have that we want, just how most of this stuff works i guess?

I got the phone with 2.2, so i dont know the difference between 2.1, but i do agree with the text lagging hardcore, battery i think will always be an issue due to the phones nature. Also boo about the vcast stuff, thats annoying

No issues ever for me, had it since release day. I rooted about a month ago, installed Redemptive rEVOlution and my battery life is just crazy good. Ive got a newer kernel from HTC than what is included in this update.

Root and be done with it. It can always be undone if necessary.

how fast of a texter are all of you who say there's no lag? because i text and type SUPER fast, and before I had 2.2, the phone worked fine. never had any lag; ever since 2.2, the phone lags like crazy when typing. it's not all the time either, it's random, but it's more than 20 times a day, definitely.

I type pretty fast... I can't imagine someone able to type faster than a GPU, even very low end ones from a phone made 5 years ago. If you have a lag, you must have a background app or something interfering with the software.

Also, the comment about "search keys and other buttons" being in correct order... how exactly do they plan on changing the capicitive buttons with just a software update?

Yes this update is the 10/13 leak alot of rom cooks have been using for the last couple of weeks. I can attest to a couple of bug fixes I had before that are fixed.

1. Battery charging time is 4 times faster. However battery life is not much better.

2. Problem with music not resuming after call or nav directions fixed.

3. Updates to oem installed apps.

You aren't alone... I encounter the text lag constantly. First occurred after the update to 2.2 and I thought I may have had a program causing it so I did a factory reset and it still happened. Very annoying because not only will it be laggy for the current letter you are typing, but any letter you continue to type during the lag will be heavily delayed.

well ya just met one lol i factory reset after 2.2 with no apps installed, and i still had horrible text lag. it's not an app problem, believe me. i've been through this many many times. it's a problem with 2.2, plain and simple

oh and also, i guess you've never owned an Eris lol i came from the Eris and that thing had text lag every single time you typed..that's why i was so happy the Dinc didn't have any when i got it, and why i almost threw the thing at a wall after 2.2. nothing can ever go my way, it seems

Can you video tape this using your webcam or something? I tried to type superfast by using only two letters and just type as fast as I can with no delay. Are you related to superman or flash lol?

One thing to note, I never did 2.2 update since my phone came with it from factory.

This is a major fix for me!! Has anyone here actually updated and can confirm that my precious media player will go back to how it was in 2.1 and I can come back to it just where I left it?
