How Many Will be "FURIOUS" if Verizon doesn't get the equivilent?

So, I have a question...I notice that everyone says Verizon is the best network out there. I'm currently with sprint (My mom pays for it all, I'm a youngin' at 18, heh.) so I'm really in the dark here about all these new devices. I know we have the Hero but I'm looking for a bit more...Well, now it seems like I have two questions, haha.

1. What's the speculation on these devices being offered by Sprint? I'd really love an Android device and I want the best I can get.

2. Is Verizon really leaps and bounds better than Sprint? Should I just try to convince my mom to drop Sprint and go to "Big Red"?

I'll definitely be disappointed if VZW doesn't get something similar. I've been holding out and if they don't get anything in 2010, that would really stink because by holding out and not getting an Eris or Droid, I'm just prolonging that painful 2 yr contract and continuing to use my crappy Q. I'm waiting till mid Jan and if nothing official comes by then, I anticipate that being my breaking point. I'm ready for a new phone.

#1: Sprint users are in the same situation as Verizon users... wondering whether these new phones are CDMA compatible. If it turns out they are, hope springs eternal.

#2: It all boils down to your location and how often you travel outside of it. If you've never had an issue with dropped calls or poor 3G connectivity, then no reason to switch, but in general, yes, Verizon network is much better. (just my opinion)

My girlfriend has sprint and I can't help but laugh every time she drops a call. It's gotten to the point that when she approaches a known dead zone, she warns whoever she's talking to that she's about to lose them.

If we go to the mountains to go skiing or drive to the coast, or vacation in Mexico, fuggetaboutit, her phone is a paperweight.

I'm with you there except that I may pull the trigger on Droid or Eris on Dec. 31. If Passion (not Nexus) does come out for Verizon in January, I'll just exchange for it.

I carry a Verizon Blackberry for work and my personal phone has been AT&T/Cingular for about 6 years. I can honestly say that no matter where I've been, my Verizon phone ALWAYS has better signal than my Touch Pro/Fuze. It's much easier to surf on my touch pro, but I always end up defaulting to my BB because I never have signal with AT&T.

I've been waiting for Verizon to get this Passion or Bravo so I can pay my ETF and get the hell OUT!

But in all honesty, what I know will happen is that I'll finally get what I want, then be irritated that something better will get leaked on the internet shortly after. Then I'll be stalking new articles about the new phone that won't actually come out for a long while...Technology just moves so fast that our type of people wont ever be 100% happy.

Yeah, I keep going back and forth between the Droid and Eris. I've hated every Motorola phone I've ever had and hate the physical keyboard on the Droid, but the HW on the Eris (mainly the processor) seems so old compared to the other phones coming out soon as well as Droid. Just imagine how obsolete the Eris will be in the next 1.5 years.

I'm in the exact same mindset as you. I've been out of contract since June with my Verizon LG Dare. I've been waiting on an Android Snapdragon phone since the Unlocker photos of the Nexus One surfaced and the possible specs that followed. Whoever brings an Android Snapdragon phone to the US market first will probably get my business, unless Verizon provides a firm date for the release of their equivalent.

That is why when I finally get my Passion, I'm disappearing from this forum.... I won't need to know what else is out there until I need a new phone two years from now.

I hear ya brother! After I get my next phone I'm digging in inside of a bunker and I don't want any communication with the outside world! haha If they would just give us a killer phone that would be up-to-date and awesome for two years or so, then we would be set! That's what I think we're all hoping, that we'll get the opportunity to have a device with the longevity of the iPhone. You could have an iPhone and it will last you a good two years or more and you really wouldn't necessarily be wanting for too much more during that time period. That's the kind of phone we need. One with real longevity. I don't think that's asking too much.

Honestly, the keyboard on the Moto Droid isn't that bad once you get used to it.. at least for me. I wish the keys were raised up a bit more, but now that I've had the phone for a while I'm pretty quick on actually.

P.S. My friend and I both have Droids and have come to the same conclusion: you can type WAY faster on the keyboard when you are drunk. Seriously, not even kidding.

Yeah well i know i'm being picky, but I sorta feel like I should be if i'm signing a two year contract worth ~$2,300, ya know? I'm sure I could get use to the keyboard, but it just bothers me that it's there. haha

Good tip for the drunk texting though. I could see that being a positive.

I can't believe you guys are getting this worked up over rumors. As soon as the Passion come out, or IF it comes out, there will be something on the horizon that will make you question that purchase. It will ALWAYS be that way in today's world of technology. Enjoy what is out NOW. I have the Droid and love it. For those who are putting it down, you obviously haven't played with it more than a couple days. I admit that a few days of messing with my phone, I wasn't that impressed. As I started personalizing it with different home skins, apps etc, I realize this phone is absolutely wicked.

In my opinion the iPhone is now a non-issue compared to this phone. Peope have gotten so use to saying "it's not an iphone" that I think they say it before even comparing phones. This phone does everything the iPhone does and more. As far as I'm concerned that phone is now playing catch up (I have owned both btw).

See I tried enjoying what was now last year with the Storm1. What happened...a year of disapointment! I won't let that happen again.

Some of us don't want a slider phone that has a keyboard with tiny buttons you have to push with the corner of your nail. If the keyboard was better, I would be buying a Droid tomorrow. Some of us just want a Droid equivalent without the slider = Passion.

A BIG + 1 to that. I don't understand why people are even arguing against. Verizon is the most expensive network. I pay over $1500 a year to them and others much more. Is it too much to ask for a lttle more/better selection? I guess so...

+1 I don't need or want a full physical keyboard. I need to be able to text with one hand and I need a great touchscreen to do that. End of story. Now, everyone is used to different things. However, for me...I need a screen, no physical keyboard. I actually told my brother that if we end up getting the Motorola Droid, I would seriously consider super gluing the sliding keyboard shut. haha Seriously, I suggested that.

I'm so with you. Years ago before there was even an iPhone I remember wondering why my friend's Cingular (now AT&T) phones were so much nicer and often cost less. My LG flip is over 3 years old. The battery charges in 30 minutes and dies even quicker if I talk on it. I've been holding out. Tried a Motorola Droid and just couldn't get a feel for it. Those hard manly edges are rough on your ear, and after you make a call, it goes back to your call history, so that as I laid the phone down, the side of my hand would hit the touch screen, dial 2 people, and I wouldn't realize it.

I'm ready for Verizon to put a phone where it's mouth is.... or as my dad says... S&*% or get off the pot. :)

Thanks for the angst SoCalMiles. I feel better now.

"How Many Will be "FURIOUS" if Verizon doesn't get the equivilent?"

At least one. I'll be flippin furious. Not at Verizon. Not at Google. Not even at myself really. But I've been patiently watching the developments of this device and its not in the interest of getting the newest, coolest, most advanced product. Its a matter of getting what I want and NEED in a phone. Ive been patiently putting up with my crap phone because, like is stated over and over on all these forums; newer, better tech comes out regularly. Well I'm waiting! I cannot leave Verizon because, well, I just cant. When you live in central NE you just cant. And dammit if there aint piss in my cheerios.
