Help Ally won't mount SD on Win7x64 Home Premium

My un-modified Ally connects beautifully and allows me to mount the SD on my WinXP notebook. But when I tried to connect to my Win7 PC it just says "device drivers did not install correctly" and never actually "sees" the Ally. I read a thread discussing a similar issue with the DROID, but the thread dried up back in March with no solution. Can anyone tell me what I need to do here?

Part of that thread talked about setting Win7 to allow unsigned drivers. I tried to do as they said from the Run command line, but the gpedit.msc file they said to run "cannot be found" on my Win7 PC.

Well, it seems that about 90% of the procedures I have read to supposedly fix issues in Win7 involve things which 'are not included in Win7 Home Premium'. I think I have found maybe ONE thing I managed to accomplish. The rest are unresolved because the fixes I read about won't work.

So, Ally drivers?

Aha! I found them by doing a Google search and ended up on this LG Forum page. But there is some confusion about which ones are the "right" ones, so the ones I got are mentioned toward the end of that thread as being "correct". I installed them and now the Ally connects just as it should.

THANKS!!

Here is where I found the drivers:

Yes, the driver file is named:

"LGAndroidDriver_WHQL_ML_Ver_1.0_All_Win7.exe"

But in the post where I found the link, there was discussion of some previous link to an incorrect driver that did not work. So for anyone reading this, there may be some confusion as to "which" driver to download. This one does work for me.

Thanks to all for the help.

Well this probably wont help you much but I will put it out there. I had the same issue with two other computers.

I finally called the helpless desk at Verizon. (JK Verizon I love you.) Anyway After an hour this guy actually pointed me to a driver download for the Ally that did the trick. I still have the files but I could not even begin to tell you where I downloaded them from.

All I know is these drivers make any ally work on any computer. With the proper os. aka windows 7 xp etc etc.

If you want I can try and get them to you somehow. One is about 10mb the other is about 4 or 5.

Well just PM me if your interested. Maybe I will see if I can post them here when i get home. Maybe one of the Devs can look at them and tell you exactly what they are.
