How is the Build Quality?

Call Quality? I had problems with the N1 and low Call Quality.

Camera/Flash Quality?

How is it with 2.2? Very Fast?

You think it will get above 2.3? (even by custom roms?)

Music/Sound Quality? Loudness?

You can change the LED light? Like on the X10 and N1 (trackball) to red, blue, purple, green, blue etc?

If you have used the N1, which do you like better? And why?

Thanks in advance!

Build quality is very high, it's very well built

Call Quality? I had problems with the N1 and low Call Quality.
I've never had a problem, it's nice and clear

Camera/Flash Quality?
The camera isn't the best, the flash is fine.

Yup.

Likely to officially for a while yet. Definitely with custom roms.

Music/Sound Quality? Loudness?
Sound on loudspeaker is ok, not great, but it's a phone, what do you expect

Yup

n/a

Thanks in advance!

Hope that answers your questions.

It depends on your headphones of course, and the quality of the music file. But I'd say the quality is pretty good. Unless you're a pretentious hipster who insists he must listen to his unsigned bands at the highest possible fidelity, then I doubt you'll notice.

Thanks a lot again, I have all the things necessary so I should be good.

Awesome. You won't regret it, the Desire is without a doubt one of the best phones on the market.

Yea main things that had me worried was Call Quality as I had VERY low on the N1, Camera (not great but does the Job like N1) and just overall lasting (hopefully it gets beyond 2.3).

IMO it looks much better Design wise then the N1.

How is the Build Quality?

Personally, I love it... On reason I chose the Desire over the Galaxy S

Call Quality? I had problems with the N1 and low Call Quality.

Pretty good. Unless the signal is really bad!

Camera/Flash Quality?

Hardly use it as a camera (unless I *need* wide screen photos). Must admit, it is rather mediocre when compared to my SE C905. ;)

How is it with 2.2? Very Fast?

Notable improvements, yes.

You think it will get above 2.3? (even by custom roms?)

No idea, sorry! Am pretty new to rooting, custom rom-ing, etc. But yes, it should get Gingerbread. Unsure about Honeycomb.

Music/Sound Quality? Loudness?

Decent. If, however, you wish to play it to folks while travelling in a train/bus, sorry. :p

You can change the LED light? Like on the X10 and N1 (trackball) to red, blue, purple, green, blue etc?

I don't think you can change it manually. Heard "Handcent" offers a blue led indicator for text msgs. Guess the default ones are green, orange and red.

If you have used the N1, which do you like better? And why?

Not used the N1. But spec-wise, looks-wise, "feel"-wise, the Desire beats it, imo.

Thanks in advance!

A pleasure... And good luck with the purchase! :)

Response with the "quote" block. ;)

Excellent. Never had an issue with this.

Camera for me is perfect in daylight and ok for a phone in low light. Its not a dedicated camera so cannot expect national geographic award winning pics but I've got some great shots from it.

I've rooted mine and am running a custom stock rom so its super fast but on 2.2 it is still very very fast and smooth.

Custom ROMS definitely and I am also pretty sure we will get 2.3 too even if you are not rooted.

Over headphones it does depend on the headphone but I find the music quality stunning and with the right app I have it about 75% volume as its very loud!

Within certain apps like Handcent sms you can. There is a thread over at XDA where they are creating an app so this can be done. Think its only rooted phones so far though.

Had a play with my mates N1 and they are fairly similar. I love my Desire and it is by far the best phone I have ever owned. Its perfect in every way...For me :D
