Help Just upgraded my mom from Env3 to Ally....

I am also hoping to get 2.2 on my Ally. But no one knows for sure if or when it comes.

For your mom's Ally, I would recommend replacing the default android launcher (screen them) with Launcher Pro. You can set it to default with them or home switcher app. It's vastly superior to default launcher and the Ally would feel much smoother, faster even without rooting. I would also avoid or minimize putting live update widgets like weather, news, SNS on screens as that drains battery faster.

Thanks...I will look into the ROM

And Thanks

I have a rooted Incredible with Redemptive Revolution ROM. Runs awesome. However, for my moms needs I doubt that I will have to root her phone....but who knows I might get antsy and just do it.

I plan to set it up tonight for her. Supposedly the LG Vortex is coming out on the 18th and will be pre-loaded with 2.2. So we will be within our return window...if there is that much of a difference we might just switch.

Ally is very fine smart-phone for entry level users. Spec wise it's very decent compared similar mid-range phones from HTC, Motorola. Especially I like its 3.2", 800X480 screen with very good clarity on texts. I wish it's a little bigger like 3.5", but 3.2" is just bearable. The keyboard is superb too for typing. Call quality and GPS are working decently too.

I'm also interested in Vortex too mainly due to android 2.2. But I'm not sure if its 3.2" 480X320 screen is good enough for me.
