Help Have deleted all folders/files. How to recover?

Hi please can somebody help me?.......

I purchased an unlocked and unbranded Samsung Galaxy S i9000 from Amazon.

After playing around with it for some time, installing all sorts and getting to know how to use it I decided I would perform a factory reset to "clean" it before continuing to use it "properly".

Before performing the factory reset I navigated to "My Files", selected delete, then selected every single folder and file and deleted them.
I then performed the factory reset.

Now I am missing 4 images which were available as wallpaper in "gallery" and probably several other files/folders.

I thought the factory reset would return the phone to its original state and reproduce any folders/files I may have deleted in the process. I thought they might be stored in a hidden "partition" or similar which I had no access to.

Anyway my questions are how can I restore my phone to its original state and which other files/folders would have been present initially but have now been deleted by me?

Many thanks for any help.

Have you tried the 3-Button Recovery Mode?
With the phone switched off, press and hold together Vol Up/Home/Power.
Now wait several seconds and on the screen you will notice you can do a number of things... Look at Factory Reset & SD Card.
Select these one by one and afterwards select the top selection named ReBoot.

I tried this reboot and it gives me different options.
Reboot system now
reinstall packages
delete all user data
delete cache data

reinstall packages doesn't work because it says i am missing the update file from my sd card

where could i find this file?

I am going to suggest that you use Kies 3.0 and then apply the latest update for your model phone. That should overlay a completely new image for you and then you can continue to do what you want.

sounds like when you were playing with your phone you prolly rooted it and you deleted files in the system or / folders

guess what.these are your hidden or should i say normally undeletable hidden partitions you speak of.if you remove anything from these the factory reset will not find them to recover, because you removed them from the phone

that or whatever you think was part of the setup on the phone really wasnt part of the setup at all and just added on the unbranded phone.eitheir whitch way
