Hi,

I need some help with the SGS..its an awsome phone overall but I've faced some nagging bugs...please let me know if these are common to all and how to resolve them...

1) Music Player doesnt get killed when you exit it...have to kill it from Task manager...also it keeps popping up randomly in the background for e.g. even if I'm done playing FM Radio and close it, the Music Player (not FM Radio) suddenly shows up in the Task Manager as Active !

2) Internet : Same as above...if I'm done browsing and Exit, the Internet browser appears as Active in the Task Manager...Is there a way to disable it ? I'm using the default browser...

3) If I view an SMS in the notifications bar, the Sender name is sometimes entirely different than the actual sender...fo eg it shows "ABC" in the notification bar..and when you click on it you find that the SMS is from another sender "XYZ". Is this a bug ?

Also, please clarify if anyone knows...

4) Is the glass really scratch proof (Gorilla Glass) ? Or will a scratch guard help ?

5) How much data would an "always on" Gtalk typically consume ?

Thanks a lot !

Can't answer most of those sorry, but regards the screen protector: I don't use one, haven't on any phone for a year a half (all capacitive screens), not a scratch on any of them. I don't think they are neccessary unless you're not very careful with your phone, but if you feel better for having one then go ahead.

Are you on a 2.2 firmware and using Samsungs task manager, or have you installed one yourself? If its the latter then just uninstall it and don't worry about what is running, the system can manage it.

As far as I know you have to kill it via task killer only. Also I have many music applications installed on my phone- Mort player, Winamp, Poweramp along with the default music player.

The android system works on "Intent". It automatically load apps in the memory which it "thinks" will be used by you.

So from my experience I have noticed that whenever you plug in the headphones all the music applications + Video applications are loaded in the memory maybe because of the intent that we have plugged in headphones so we would definitely listen to something.

Similarly android picks these intent from various actions and load apps in memory. Another example- Suppose you have selected to search songs also when you long press the menu button to search then when you long press the menu button but search an app even then the music player would be loaded in the memory!

No kill it via task killer.

Probably YES.

According to 1 video on youtube the glass isnt scratched by keys or nuts but is scratched by a cutter. But people have claimed that there can be very minor scratches on phone which one cannot see unless he flashes a strong LED on the screen. I dont use a screen protector as my phone is in the case most of the time. But everyone on its own.

No idea.

Are you talking about some widget or the default battery icon?
