Should I get an EVO?

Would you all recommend that I get the EVO?
You asked in the EVO forum, so ya of course that's what we're going to recommend!

Is now a good time to get one, as in, will it still get Gingerbread
Whether you get it today or next month or after the first of the year isn't going to change whether the phone will or won't get the 2.3 upgrade. That's up to Sprint/HTC.

...be a relevant phone next year too?
Until the next greatest phone comes out sure...be it EVO2 or whatever it might be. Who knows when that'll be. We see rumors and reports of phones sometimes months ahead and sometimes only weeks ahead. No telling what will be the latest greatest thing after the first of the year!

I am thinking about either sticking with T-Mobile and getting a MyTouch 4G or switching to Sprint and getting an EVO. Would you all recommend that I get the EVO? Is now a good time to get one, as in, will it still get Gingerbread and be a relevant phone next year too?

Are you looking for an Android phone? If you stick with T-mobile they have that new wp7 hd which is the same size as the EVO, can you give more details of what your looking for? If you do get an EVO you can't go wrong, it's been out 5 months now and still one of the best phones out still.

At this point, there are very few reasons for going with a W7 device. The reviews just do not speak well for its current state.

I am a Sprint customer and have been for years, hence even if a better device were to surface in the alternate universe, changing carriers would be exceedingly cost prohibitive considering what the family is currently using.

I hate the default screen keyboard sported by the Evo; however, having found an alternative keyboard, I am fairly satisfied with it. If I were not able to come to grips with the keyboard, the Epic IV would have been the next purchase.

i think the MT4G is a more powerful phone.

other than size of screen.. I think MT4G has the better spec.
both are made by HTC.

if size something important to you... then EVO.
if power is your goal.. then MT4G

hmm, don't understand how the MT4G is more powerful? Correct me if I'm wrong hut aren't they both running the same processor? Also I've seen videos of the MT4G in action and although the device runs smooth all around, but I've seen some sluggish pitch zooming in the browser, my Evo seems to be way smoother in this regard. But i have seen the quadrant scores for the MT4G and I am VERY impressed. Maybe this could put it over the edge compared to the Evo which I can live with, but the Evo just looks smoother to me.

Yes, the MT4G uses a Snapdragon, so you are right in a sense(<-- pun). The difference is that the MT4G uses a 2nd generation Snapdragon, Scorpion. It's a 45nm chip as opposed to the Evos 65nm. Smaller is faster.

Lol, I can't imagine how much improved a 3rd generation Snapdragon will be.
