Noob sorry its proberbly been covered but???

Just got the G1 phone and cant believe you cant receive pics and music via bluetooth do you have to download these from your pc via the lead??

Cant seem to get the music to play via bluetooth does the phone perform this function ??

The camera seems to take about 6 seconds to take a picture by this time the subject has moved and the picture is blurred is this a setting thing or is that just part of the phones function

Ive contacted the provider and told them I want to send it back but if I can get it to do what I want Ill keep it

Sorry to sound so negative but just cant believe that you cant transfur files via bluetooth, just found this forum and there seems to be some great reviews on the phone so would like to keep it thanks and sorry again as I bet this has been covered a load in the past

Under the current build Bluetooth is only used for headset and that is it. No file transfer etc and only mono. Many many rumours about Cupcake. AD2P will be there but whether that means they will open up BT for other services as well remains to be seen.

The Camera is slow by default, it's just they way it is, not sure it takes 6 seconds that I have noticed but yes it's slow.

Seams you summed it all up in your first post. These are things that I also assumed the phone would do. I mean when you hear that a device has bluetooth now days you just assume that it has a full stack in there. Not so but maybe file transfer down the line. But maybe not. I would be happy with AD2P so I can listen to music.

Thanks for the help guys seems that really the phone is crap
no real bluetooth no video camera is so slow that you need a tripod to take a picture without it being blurred, Im no technophobe but you need a degree in computing just to get your photos on it

Not for me in afraid its back in the box and tomorrow it will be winging its merry way back to T-mobile
maybe next time ill join a forum before buying
the gadget show,s review gave it too long before they ditched it in my opinion
compairing this to the Iphone is like compairing a pc to pen and paper no matter how many ugrades there are in the pipeline
thanks for your help guys

Ouch! That's pretty unfair.

I would say this does compare to the iPhone. The iPhone does not have video.

A2DP AND video will be here within a month, according to stories.

I never trust a camera phone over my Canon or Kodak. I'd rather lug an extra device around for quality pictures.

As for loading pictures onto the phone, it's no different than a Windows Mobile phone.

Through PC:
1. Mount phone on PC
2. Ctrl+E > E: drive (in my work PC case) > dcim (memory card) > Camera
3. Drag and drop.

Email (GMail):
1. Send pic(s) to GMail.
2. Open GMail on phone.
3. Push Download button (saves to, in my case, E:\download).

Sounds simple to me. I don't think it was any easier on my Dash.

LOL, you're a troll, and a bad one at that.

I call bullshit on you ever having purchased a G1, or even having T-Mo. I'd bet my ass that you are nothing more than an iTool who came here trying to make it look like you have a G1, and apparently something about it bothered you.

How in the hell do you go from "I really want to keep this phone" to "this phone is crap" and "comparing this to the iPhone is like comparing a PC to a pen and paper" just because of not being able to transfer files through Bluetooth, which might even be fixed? Seriously, if you're going to troll, do it right.

Bluetooth matter that much to ya? Well, good luck with your iPhone as it doesn't support A2DP (stereo headsets), while the G1 will in a matter of weeks. Yes, Apple STILL hasn't fixed this. If you were going to pick a subject to make the iPhone seems superior to the G1, you might want to research the topic first, kid.

And yes, comparing the iPhone to the G1 is like comparing a high-tech PC to a pen and paper, however, the iPhone is not the PC in your little scenario.

Tell me, how does it feel to still not support features like MMS? How about not being able to even use your own wallpaper? How about A2DP support? Or Video recording (G1 will support it)? Forget all those, how about Flash which is coming to the G1, and still nothing for the iPhone even after being out for so damn long? You want to talk about the camera? Tell me, how's that 2.0 megapixel camera treating ya without auto-focus? And like I said, whatever you do take with it, you still won't be able to send it through MMS.

Also, considering how long the iPhone has been out compared to the G1, the G1 should not have nearly as many advantages over it as it does...but it does nonetheless. Maybe you should compare the iPhone when it originally launched to the G1, you know, when its broweser constantly crashed, and it dropped a shitload amount of its calls?

Forget all that, tell me how it feels when your battery which you can't swap out yourself dies, or you break your phone psychically which Apple won't cover. Same for the storage, I'd also like to know what it feels like when you run out of room, and cannot upgrade it.

Again, listen to your own advice and actually do research before you try to pull one on people, kid.

Sounded like a troll to me, also. "atleastihavemms" covered a lot, but I think one the huge advantages of android is multitasking. The fact that third party apps can run in the background means they can so much more useful. take for instance an app that keeps track of gas mileage via gps, an app like this is just not possible on an iphone.

I don't understand people who buy expensive things without researching them -- especially when they have a feature in mind that they feel is a dealbreaker.

Seriously, 5-15 minutes of research can save you time, money, and headaches, yet it amazes me how many people don't figure this out. It's almost as if they feel they shouldn't have to look into things, that wish fullfillment is part of the pricetag or something. Weird.

Good luck with whatever phone you're looking for.

No, this guy is a troll, and a tool.

Yup! What you said........... don't think he ever used a g1 honestly....

I just re-read the thread. I still don't see how he's an obvious troll.. but, whatever - he's gone.

While he does have a troll-like post, we will not tolerate flaming here. This is the only warning that will be issued. Feel free to post facts to put him in his place, but calling him a "troll" or "tool" makes you no better than him.

Actually, I re-read what he said and he never attacks anyone on here and the only REAL troll-worthy comment is the iPhone comparison bit, so I put people who flame him below him if, in fact, he just came here to troll.

If he was serious about what he said, then he is an uninformed purchaser and would be at least equally unhappy with the iPhone.

Well the entire purpose of successfully trolling is to do it in a manner where it doesn't come off as trolling, rather as him simply disliking the product, or whatever else.

As I said earlier, for him to go from "I really want to keep this phone" to "this phone is crap" and "comparing this to the iPhone is like comparing a PC to a pen and paper" just because of not being able to transfer files through Bluetooth, which might even be fixed, is a dead giveaway, especially when prior to that statement no one had even mentioned the iPhone.

And look, he's not back.

Whatever you make of him, I have no doubts what his real purpose was, so yes, I did call him out on it.

Moving on.
