Root LFY 1.7 vs Bugless Beast?

Agreed. What works on one Droid might not work AT ALL on someone else's. These ROMs are all different with their inner-workings and interaction with each Droid.

Bugless Beast in all versions works quite well on my Droid as long as I don't do any web browsing. The moment I get online, my temps are driven up to the point of boot-looping. This happens with EVERY BB version I try.

I'm running LFY now, and this ROM is absolutely PERFECT for my Droid. Fast, very stable, no lag or homescreen redraws, and best of all, my Droid does not boot-loop no matter how hot it gets.

UD in every carnation refuses to run on my Droid. Sapphire won't even boot up - regardless of which kernel I use.

Just goes to show what works well for one might not work well - or work at al - for another.

Certain ROMs will perform very differently on diff Droids, so I would suggest trying both out to see what works best for you.

For me, the choice is clearly LFY. The latest version of BBeast was pretty abysmal on my Droid in nearly every aspect, as where LFY 1.7 has been the best ROM I've ever run on my Droid.

To break it down a lil further, LFY is faster, smoother, has better battery life (best battery life I've experienced on 2.2), and some more customizations. Also, LFY has recently been updated to 1.8, which claims to be even more improved. I'm still getting a feel for it, but so far so good.

My phone works great with lfy 1.71, but I wouldn't recommend upgrading to the 1.8 h2o release yet(autobrightness and fb syncing problems). I get great battery life and the ROM is super smooth compared to BB. I was an avid BB fan up till v0.4. But 0.5 would force close system apps and become unusable on my droid. It's all trial and error though, as everyone else has said.

+1

LFY is the first ROM (starting with version 1.4) that I've kept on my phone for more than a few days. I guess it's impossible for any ROM to be "perfect" but LFY is as close as it gets (especially v1.71). Combined with a Slayher kernel (which has the "interactive" setting) and it's run nearly flawlessly on my phone. And my battery life is AMAZING! BB was always my go-to ROM pre Froyo, but since the release of 2.2 Pete's ROMs haven't agreed my my phone as much. But, as a few others have stated, every phone reacts differently and there's always the personal opinion factor. The only way to truly find out which is best for you is to give it a try for a day or so.

I couldn't take it anymore. LFY would perform fine for the most part, but the lag would get horribly bad at some points. I'm switching over now to try it.

I was actually thinking. I remember reading on this forum that kernels react differently on different Droids as well. Is there any reason to think that my 1.0GHz Kernels would be the cause of my lag problem?

Hey GLD, just a quick question, sre these steps necessary for v1.8 and above? I just flashed v1.95 and I know its an option in Liquid Tweeks however, just want to be sure. Thanks :)

Hey JB! I'm not sure which part you're asking me about, but I leave compcache disabled, clear my dalvik cache periodically and always run the command for the Samsonite801 redraw fix immediately upon loading a new ROM version. Since my Sweeter Home 2 theme is extremely heavy, those measures are the sure-fire way I've found (in addition to increasing the dalvik.vm.heasize value in the build.prop file) to ensure that I have no redraw lag.

I apologize upfront if this makes no sense, I am so tired right now working on about an hours sleep from Friday morning wake up! I can hardly think straight lol!

I guess what im asking is, if memory serves me, the option to uncheck compcache wasnt available in LQ Tweeks back on v1.71 (I dont even remember if LQ Tweeks was implemented on that ROM) and I think it is because of this, you wrote the steps to disable compcache all together...is that right? Same goes for the redraw fix correct?

Anyway, now that I am running v1.95, do I still need to remove compcache as you did in those steps or can I just leave it unchecked in LQ Tweeks and not have anything to worry about? You mention you still do a portion of those steps so...guess I just answered my own question eh? Lol, told ya im tired!

See, whats happening is im behind the curve with all this bcuz I only had v1.71 flashed for a few days and could not correct the heat issue if it killed me so, v1.9 was the first since v1.6 really (I had v1.6 for awhile tho, that one still my favorite so far), but I thought this would be a perfect time to gain the experience and start flashing this and flashing that, well...here we are, me asking questions regarding something that happened 2.5 Frozen Yogurts ago!! Erggg, hahaha!

Really, im just gonna go with what you stated above and act as if I have been doing this along...cuz im not seeing the speeds as I did on v1.9...not even close to v1.6! In fact, v1.6, is when I was turning QTs in the 1700's, highest was 1789!! Now, im lucky to get 1500! Yes, i was using Slayher's 1250 Kernel then but now...my phone wants to blow up if I put anything over 1100! Even on the stock Kernel for v1.9, just the other day my temp hit 161deg...I almost called the Fire Dept!

Anyways when im tired, i start rambling, so im stopping now, and saving everyone from falling asleep! Thanks for listening ;)
