Help Is my face hanging up on people?

So I've had the droid x for a little over a month now and I absolutely love it. I don't go a day without using it and I'm still trying to get everything customized to my liking. However I have had one issue since I received my phone. I seem to be hanging up on people with my face or either my phone is dropping calls like crazy. I took it in to the verizon store and the lady there had no idea what to do. My phone calls just end mid conversation with someone and I don't know if it's my face or if my droid x is dropping calls. It doesn't say anything like "call was lost" like it did on my old phone.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Check to see if the screen stays on while the phone is up to your ear (have someone watch you or watch in a mirror). If the screen is dark, then you're not hanging up on them accidentally.

My wife used to have that problem with her Incredible, but she found she was holding the phone "slanted", with the bottom up against her cheek and the top an inch or so away from her ear.

There are reports of proximity sensor issues with the Droid X posted around various forums.

If the area at the top of the device, where the p.s. is located, is clean, and yet the phone is still not functioning as it should, it's possible that a defective p.s. could be the issue. Many users are taking their X in for replacement if that's the case.
