two things, first when i re loaded my contacts through my memory card it loaded each contact once but when i open that contact each number is in there 2-3 times. i erased the entire list and re installed the ocntacts and still the same thing. i might have to do it through the sony sync, but is there an easier way to do it? also the bar that appears that has the blue tooth and wifi buttons on it. theres a little sync button on there. whats the function of that and how do i properly use it? im assuming when i click it it does a sync to whatever sync aplications i have setup, facebook, email, etc. so do i leave that on or click it once a week to let it sync or what?

oither than that 2.1 is flippin awsome except for the fact that the battery was at 90% charged this morning. other than that it runs awsome on the x10 and im blown away at how fast the phone actually is while running properly.

When I was at AT&T getting my X10, he had loaded my contacts from the old phone to the new one and when I opened my phonebook to make sure they transferred over he noticed they were in there twice. He said "oh, I forgot to save it" and when he did so there were no more doubles. He saved it on the phone, although not exactly sure how. Hope this helps somehow.

I also had the exact same contact problems.
I use Gmail and all my contacts (email & phone) are all located in my gmail contacts now.
For some reason I had to go into Gmail -> Contacts. Then under More Actions use -> Find & Merge Duplicates.

After that, when the contacts synced with the phone everything worked fine for me.
(I only sync my gmail contacts, I don't care to sync my fb contacts into my phone book)

I just updated my phone .. the 2.1 Update was finally made available for us here... anyway .. i went through the same issues that you did .... well atleast i though i did ... after i updated and finished installing the update .. I tried restoring everything using the on board back up and restore... It restored everything perfectly except mt contacts .... every time i visited my phonebook .. It said no contacts .. but strangely .. my msges had teh names and photos ... so it had to be somewhere... this worked for me .. i dont know if your phone has teh same problem .. But its worth a shot ... when u open up contacts .. click on teh display option at the top left corner... and it opens up a page that has a DISPLAY CONTACTS TAB .. Under that u have various options .. Like display ur fb contacts.. ur google contacts .. open up your google synced tab ,.. and under that ul see different options like system groups ... my contacts .. friends etc .... click on the tab that says "contacts" ... uncheck the rest if u dont need them ... and u should see ur phone contacts appear :) if this doesn work .. let me know .. il keep searching for other options ..

see my contacts all appear, but when i open them to see the info each number is stored there multiple times. i had a similar problem before when id re sync with the sony servers and it would load each contact 2 or 3 times and i had to manually go in there and remove them from the sony server and then sync again and it was fine. but when i did my backup to my memory card just before i did the update everyone only had 1 set of numbers. i may just remove them all adn re sync from the sony server again. thanks for the help
