Root FRG83 for OG Droid: What's so special?

How come I never heard of this coming to our faithful Original Droids? What does this update come with that FRG22D (rooted) doesn't? Is it worth the trouble to upgrade and re-root?

cause it ain't special. as I see it, I am going pass. generic "bug fixes" and "exchange server" improvements don't mean much to me when I got a stable ROM.

Thanks.
I was hoping you would report it resolving the issue with self-signed certificates.
I have taken my Droid back to 2.1.1 so I can access my corp e-mail and schedule.....certificate-required.

Everything else worked fine for me....but the boss was pissed that he had to allow me to access them without a certificate. Going back got him off my back.

If Windows 7 had launched on Verizon I would have jumped the Android-ship immediately.
I bet they will not have these issues. Telephone and Exchange support are the most important things my phone does for me......the rest is fluff.

Really? Cause I just upgraded to UD 2.0.0 and I still have FRG22D

It's been mentioned in the thread that it's probably because if you have anything but FRG22D listed there, Verizon will try to push the OTA to you. The fact that the Android version is 2.2.1 and not just 2.2 proves that it has to be FRG83 and not FRG22D; FRG22D was still 2.2.

well kind of.. IF this was in fact pushed OTA, and you had one of the patches in place that blocks the OTA reminders, you would not have gotten an OTA notice. I am on FRG01B, 2 "updates" old, and I got no OTA notice because of this fact & assuming it was even an OTA to begin with, which I am not 100% sure it was (?).

for anyone unsure of what they have, you could always go to settings > about phone and look see what Android Version and Build Number are listed
