CDMA on Nexus 1

GSM only at first. I've read so many reports about this over the last 48 hours. Today I saw some reports that look concrete. The word is that it'll be available from Google and T-Mobile on Jan. 5. If you buy it from Google it will cost more but won't require signing any contract; in essence it'll be the same as the Android Developer Phones. You could get a pre-paid AT&T or TMO Data-only SIM card and use Google Voice to make calls. That would make it a $30 a month phone bill!!! T-Mobile will have subsidized phones that will be $199 with a 2-year contract. You could also use it with AT&T but only on EDGE. This first one only works with T-Mobile 3G. Another rumor says that this was the mysterious "Passion" that Verizon was supposed to be getting but that deal fell through because Verizon didn't want to help Google push an open, unlocked phone. BUT, VZW customers shouldn't worry; there's nothing stopping HTC from making VZW a comparable phone with the Sense UI. That's the beauty of a free, open-source OS. :)

Verizon needs to open their eyes to the Smartphone/Android network and start negotiating to carry a phone that can topple the iphone. The Nexus1 looks like it is going to be an extraordinary phone. The droid is nice(even though i prefer my Eris). But better phones are on the way. Verizon, wake the F*CK up

I just cant understand why cant they (Verizon) see the reality (or want to ignore it!) of what their customers really want.
I nearly left verizon when the Iphone released, But i decided to wait.
IF this happens again with this one, I am going to be a Tmobile customer for a while.......:(

Amen... Just I can't leave it...lol

i think everyone wants this phone (mostly). It would be wonderful if this came to ALL the carriers but since it seems its fully compatible with just one, tmobile seems like a good choice. Verizon guys have the Droid, that phone is awesome and i would have buy it if it was available for tmobile. The carriers in need of a good android right now are 1. ATT (probably iphone exclusivity in the way right now cause they got nothing lol) 2. tmobile (have u seen the shit specs their android phones have?) 3. Sprint (the hero is pretty good and so is the moment) 4. verizon (you guys just got the 2 best android phones on the market and you want more? chill out, everyone wants in on the action :p you will get more soon enough ;))

Concrete? Link from T-Mobile or Google? Just about everybody else has had an opinion on the Nexus One and they haven't been afraid to share it. Until I hear a firm announcement from a real source, I'm not believing the flavor of the day. I'll stick with the pictures that confirm the Nexus One was FCC tested for T-Mobile bands. The when, where, what, how much still goes unknown.

This couldn't be more damning for any CDMA users who might have held a glimmer of hope that a CDMA version of the Nexus One was close behind:

Nexus One limited to T-Mobile 3G in the U.S. – Android and Me

If analytically no CDMA-based Nexus One usage has been detected, then we're at least a month if not more off from seeing a version of it. Especially with Verizon and how much testing they'd be doing prior to releasing such a device. Okay, I've jumped off the Nexus One bandwagon. Enjoy, T-Mobile.

Hey guys. This is my first post on this forum but I have been following this phone for a long time! Ever since the first picture was leaked in mid October. That picture and the speculation that this phone would come to Verizon has kept me from getting and eris or droid.

Anyway, I have some speculation to get off of my chest. boy genius report has just posted that Verizon is doing another buy one get one free on droid and eris. This will be the second one they have done in two months. This brings me to 2 things. One, before I began following these droid phones I was looking forward to getting the storm 2. Right before its release Verizon did buy one get one on their blackberrys. I know this was all blackberrys but the storm one was included. Verizon did two of these offers before the release and one when the storm two was released. I think this is reason to think that the same thing will happen with the nexus one.

The rumor right now is that google will sell an unlocked version of the phone that will work with tmobile and maybe att. As far as we know tmobile will not sell nexus one in their stores. So I think the joke will be on us in the long run. While we all saw the passionC in the hero rom, this will be the Verizon cdma version and will be sold in Verizon stores.

So, I know that took awhile to explain and I appreciate those who took the time in reading my thoughts. Any takers on this theory? I believe well be seeing something after the 24th which is the last day of bogo on droid and eris. It just doesn't make sense to sell this exclusively online because how will consumers get some hands on time with this amazing phone. I have to keep hope because I believe this is the phone I've been waiting for and I have to stay with Verizon.

To be honest, I kinda agree that SOMETHING is up with the buy one get one on droids. Not necessarily the passionC or anything but I think they have something up their sleeve. Either that or its just a big push for the holiday. Maybe just trying to squeeze every last contract out of all that money they spent on advertising. Hopefully it is a new phone though, 2 android phones is not big enough of a selection for this guy.

I'm a little put off by the lack of Verizon insider commentary on anything, Nexus One or not. I mean, what happened to the 15 or so new devices by the end of the year or best network/best smartphones info we heard a month ago? Omnia II hit the stores on 12/2 and there's been nothing since. Sounds like VZW's big push flamed out big time. I remain unimpressed, considering the marketing brochure that was leaked awhile back. And no one is saying anything.

I just don't see how you came up with that. Every piece of info that has leaked so far has pointed to it being sold by google and Tmobile and NOT Verizon or any cdma carrier YET.

You know what? I don't even know anymore about what's going to happen! lol. Although I would really love and have been waiting on the Passion/Nexus One I'm sick of waiting. I've been dealing with my S1 for far too long! I never should have switched to the Eris for that short while because now I have Android Fever! So, I bought the Droid the other day. So, if something is announced in the next 30 days, the Droid will probably go back. But if not, I think I'll be happy enough with what I've got. I just don't see myself going back to my S1. Plus, if rumors hold out to be true the Droid should be getting 2.1 next month. Once its on the Droid, all I'll be missing out on is a piece of hardware!

Think this is the reason no one is asking for Verizon as much. Most of us have given up and gotten the Droid. And apparently they're happy with it.

Fact is, if the Passion came out in January, I may think twice. A 9% performance increase with the Snapdragon, an OLED screen, and Sense UI. All within a month of my purchase. But a Google Only phone with a 9% increase and OLED... Sense UI and verizon may have been enough to make me return my droid on the 15th, yet a more colorful screen but worse network will not...

And if the updated HTC comes out a few months from now, I'll already be a good way through my 1 year (10 months to upgrade) contract. So eh.

Its good news all around though. A Nexus One means more users with updated hardware, which means more apps that utilize high end processors.
