I have the Samsung Moment which is rooted. I'm still trying to learn the root lingo. I found another er-uh-rooted program that I want to install on my phone. Here are the specs of my phone: Model number is AMSDream 5.0. Firmware is Ultimate Dream 5.0. The baseband version is S:M900.8.OS.DE03. The Kernel version is 2.6.29. The Build is Little Kernel 1.2. I came across this on the SDX's website but have no idea what it means in English terms:

Flash Stock DE03 + Recovery 3.1.1, Boot fully to system, Boot into Recovery, Flash DI06 Deodexed Theme Template, Boot fully to system, Boot into Recovery, Apply Rom
Please follow instructions as listed

Ultimate Dream wasa great rom but it might be a little dated. I ran it for a few months though and loved it.

If you're thinking about loading zrom be sure to read all of the comments inthe later pages. I believe some users were having trouble with gps and bluetooth and he basically said he didn't have time to work on the rom.

Sprint really killed the aftermarket support witht he last 3 updates they dumped on us. Most of the guys that developed at the software level have already moved on to other phones.

Yeah, I read some of the comments and kind of got bummed because of some of the problems people were having with that specific rom. I only ran into one problem with the Ultimate Dream upgrade. This file or rom or kernel--still don't know the term-that I want is a .tar file and my phone didn't even pick it up. That got me a bit bummed as well. I love the layout though. Maybe I can still find a way to get it. Maybe. If not I can always go back to what I have.

Thanks for the reply too.

Your tar will be the "stock" image with built in root that you flash to "reinitialize" the phone before you flash your rom from the recovery console. Once you've flashed back to stock you put your rom on the sd card and flash it from recovery. The tar is for use with swupdater, the custom rom will be a zip for the recovery console.

Btw, if memory serves, to run ultimate dream you have to flash ultimate dream 2 or 3 first, then flash 5.0 on top of it to get it to work. I ran UD1, 2, 3, and 4 but 4.0 worked so good for me I skipped the upgrade to 5.0. Typically in the latest versions before he moved on dearmas always seemed to change things I didn't like so I rarely flashed the latest until I heard what had changed. From what I read I didn't bother with remix at all. His roms are all solid though and they're worth trying out. Just be sure to read the flash instructions carefully in the first post to see what you need to do to make them work right. It's different on each version.

OK. First thanks for responding and second...What?? I have no idea what you said, let alone know what it means, lol!! My phone's only been rooted for about three months and today I tried to put what I posted on here on my phone. First, I thought I killed it b/c it said it couldn't find the jpg or png. I couldn't get to anything. After I worked around it I was able to put something on my phone. I don't know what I did but my phone is no longer rooted. Right now I'm fine with that because the Verizon NFL app now works on my phone. The updated NFL version wasn't working on my cell which was rooted and I was deprived for two weeks. If this app stops working-since it's done so twice-then I will come back here and try to figure out what on earth do you mean.

If you're no longer rooted you flashed the stock rom back with the sprint updater (swupdate). In order to get root, you have to swap in the hacked rom file (the .tar file) from the forums into the binary folder on your computer inside swupdate before you flash. That's step one. Step two is once you have root and the custom recovery you put your custom rom file (this is the zip file, like Ultimate Dream) on your SD card and reboot the phone while holding volume down, talk and end buttons at the same time and get to the recovery console where you can flash the zip file and have the custom rom on your phone.

Simple eh? :D

If you get the bug to try again, I highly recommend you try the Titanium X rom on the SDX forum. It's in the thread called ti-x 1.3. It's been great.

Sorry for not speaking English before. lol

I think I did this twice. When I put the updater back on my computer(Tutorial from Youtube) I swapped out the .tar file with the other file in the Binary folder. When I ran the updater and went through the first few steps it said the drivers were installed and to unplug my USB cord. I did that and when that happened my computer said that the drivers couldn't be installed. I thought nothing of it and finished the download process and got that jpg png error. At that point I couldn't do anything with my phone. So I removed the uninstaller from my computer and started over. This time when the program said the drivers were installed my computer was still installing the drivers so I waited. After that was done I ended up completing the process with success. My phone went into boot mode and it said something about an update. It couldn't find it so I went and applied that program with the recovery on it and that was it. Or so I thought. I went to remove those annoying stock apps only to get the error that it couldn't be removed. I then installed the Titanium Backup. That was when I got the error stating my phone wasn't rooted. After swearing under my breath I went to the NFL app and it worked like a charm. At that point I said to myself as long as my NFL app is working I don't care about the root. So if the NFL app stop working before the season's over then I will go back to trying what you suggested. I'm still trying to learn this root thing and right now everything sounds gibberish.

I re-rooted my phone a few days ago to what I put in this previous thread and now my phone won't read the sdx custom zip or any of the boot animations I tried to install. I get this message: E: Can't open /sdcard/custom-SDX-update.zip (bad) Installation aborted.I'm not sure if this new Stock DE03 + Recovery 3.1.1, is the cause for the other other zip files becoming corrupted when I try to install from the boot mode or not. If I try to install this in regular mode I get this:Directory custom-SDX-update.zip could not be loaded. Along with this download comes the DI06 Deodexed Theme Template. This won't install on my phone either. What do I do if I can do something?
