Help TV for my Droid X

I have a question. This past weekend I was trying to watch the Auburn vs Georgia SEC football game on my Droid X via CBS Sports Online and all it would do is buffer constantly. Someone standing around me was watching the game they were watching it just like on a regular TV and it looked and sounded good. I told him I was trying to watch it on my X, but all it would do is buffer. He said he was using something called low TV or slow TV, I didn't really understand him, it was kinda of loud, we were all standing outside the football stadium.

Does anyone have a clue what program or service streams games like that...good quality?

Was it maybe FloTV? And was it not on a phone?? Completely different than using a cell data connection to stream TV

Ahhh, that very well could be it. I knew he said something that sounded like Low TV. Thanks! Will give that a look. I did not ask him what phone or device he had, but it looked just like a smartphone to me of some kind.

So, it is a stand alone device. Don't think I need another device to eat up more money. Don't know why they can't feed this on a smartphone.

Check out the Flo TV website they do have it for mobile phones but from what I read it looks like the LIVE tv is only for the AT&T network not Verizon. I may be wrong though.

I had the service with my old Voyager and at that time there were several phones that supported it, however it didn't seem to be that popular and I believe the HTC Imagio is the only current Verizon phone supporting it.

Qualcomm is expanding their FloTV network as quickly as possible but the RF spectrum Qualcomm leased for FloTV was part of the 700MHz spectrum cleared out for other uses during the digital TV transition so for quite a while they were limited in where it could be active. Based on this, Entertainment and Apps from Verizon Wireless - V CAST Mobile TV, coverage for Mobile TV is still quite limited and that is probably one reason it has not caught on.

verizon is no longer offering new mobile tv (FloTV) plans. those who currently have them can keep them, but they wont be offering it anymore. i think it may have seen more success if it were available on more phones than just the crappy imagio.

for college football games, your best bet is to get vcast video. they have a lot of games every saturday (plus you get nfl network and redzone), and the video is optimized for 3G, so you dont have to deal with buffering like you did trying to stream from a server intended for wired internet connections.

Slingbox is, by far, the best way to watch live TV on your phone.

No monthly fees and it works great on Android.

I can even personally vouch for the original Slingplayer AV working on a Droid X (since that's my setup).

You can pick up a used Slingplayer AV off of craigslist for around $50.

It does work well but $29.00 for the android software is a little out of touch with reality (IMO).

I think that price is fine for what it does with no monthly fees. Is it better to have a free app and pay $10 a month to use it? It is also the same price for all the platforms, so I don't think $30 is unreasonable at all, it wouldn't be way to much if you had to pay to use it though.

However recently both ESPN and CBS always seem to say 'this channel is no longer available because of copyright issue's'... what's the big deal? Ok I know that ESPN is a cable channel, but CBS is a public broadcast. Anyone with an antenna can pick it up and watch is all day long for absolutely nothing. So why are they so concerned with it being sent to our phones? Greedy bastards!

CBS may broadcast over the air, but what they broadcast is copywrited material, and rebroadcast without their permission is illegal.

Well, here is my two cents worth of the LiveTV thing from CBS and the ATDHE.net streaming services...they are both crap.

I tried watching some of the SEC Championship game this pass Saturday. I never could even get the ATDHE website to come up until about 30 minutes after the game started and then once it did come up I never could get it to stream any of the game at all. The CBS thing is pure junk. I started it right when the game started and all I got to see was just about 5 seconds of the kickoff and then the next thing I saw was 11:05 left in the first quarter. I was in a major city with excellent 3G signal. This stuff just does not work...don't waste your time with it. If might work on wifi, but it does not on 3G.
