Has anyone tried using a 3.5" to triple RCA out to display powerpoint presentations from their Captivate (or similar) device?

Any problems going from HD to a 4:3 aspect ratio? I would love to make presentations from my Captivate to a projector.

Any info would be great.

I'm not sure if that phone supports video out. But if it does, you shouldt have a problem. Yes, the picture will be squished, as composite video can only do 4x3.

I haven't tried going from widescreen to 4.3 with a PP Presentation but I think if the presentation is 4:3 then the output will be 4:3. I've downloaded some SD videos online and had it TV Out'd to my HDTV and to make it 4:3 all I had to do was click on the little button on the media player to not full screen it. You should find a program that outputs your presentations with that ability.

Well, I look forward to trying it out when I get it. My main goal is to run power points. I'm stoked that I can RCA it with audio! I just wish there was an HD-Quality video out....

But hey - it's already better than what my Blackberry can do (though my BB can do it wireless with the Impatica, but no audio and a horribly compressed ppt file).

I haven't tried to output a Power Point presentation via the video out but I believe that however you see the presentation on your Galaxy S, that is how it will appear on your LCD TV. Once I enabled TV out on the settings (I used a Nokia TV out cable as a normal 3.5mm to RCA output cable didnt work), I could see the entire phone screen on TV. It was smart enough to detect if the phone was on landscape or portrati orientation and would adjust the display accordingly. Also, all the widescreen format movies displayed properly on widescreen as with all 4:3 videos. There was no stretching whatsoever, and the image on the TV was exactly the same aspect ratio on the phone's LED screen.

Amazing piece of hardware in my opinion

Dang it. Forgot about the other functionality of the 3.5" jack. Bought a coupke of generics. Oh well, back to eBay!

Is there a problem with leaving TV OUT left turned on on the Captivate?

No problem, although it may not stay on (it doesn't on my Galaxy S when I try to leave it on).
