best phone for emulation

So it's that wonderul time again for me to renew my tmobile service and get a new phone, and i've narrowed it down to the mytouch slide and the samsung vibrant. Now I just want to get some opinions on which you all think would be better for emulation. The issues I see are:

The vibrant doesn't have a physical keyboard which is much more preferrable than touch controls. On the other hand, it has a really large screen which might make touch controls more usable (i've only played emulators on an iphone 3g)

The mytouch DOES have a keyboard, but has a significantly slower processor (on paper), and therefore might not run emulators as well.

What do you guys think? Anyone with emulator experience on either phone? Is the vibrant touch screen good for controls? If not, is the mytouch powerful enough run emulators as well as the vibrant?

Just as a side note, in all other areas I like the vibrant better, so if the mytouch is overall better for emulation, but only by a small margin, i'll go with the vibrant.

Thanks for any suggestions!

Why not get the G2 if you want a keyboard? It has quadrant scores higher than the vibrant. I think part of the reason is because it runs Android 2.2.

What are you emulating? I have no problem running GBA games on my LG Optimus S, so if you really want the MT3G Slide, I'm sure you would have no problem running GBA, SNES, NES, etc. I wouldn't bet the farm on PSX4Droid playing games at good framerate though. You would need the G2, MYtouch 4g or Vibrant to get decent performance on the PSX emulator.

Well the G2's a little too pricey, otherwise it would be perfect. Vibrant and mytouch both have big discounts right now, which is why i'm considering them.

Yeah I actually would like to use psx4droid, and keep my options open if n64droid ever happens. So Slide wouldn't handle it well?

I don't know why everyone hates the touch controls on the emulators, I've used them for a long time now and you really get used to them. They're just as good as a keyboard now, if not better. The slide out keyboards give me nightmares of them breaking off or getting loose over time...

If you like the vibrant over the mytouch in every way except for the keyboard go for it.. You get Swype, which completely makes physical keyboards useless anyway ^^ (I always type in portrait)

Cool thanks for all the input. Looks like i'm going with the vibrant!

warning i do NOT

i do NOT suggest the
Samsung i9000 Galaxy S for emulation (also known as Vibrant or whatever name American companies think are better sounding just to confuse the rest of planet earth).

I've got it and while it is a GREAT phone it's simply lacking the BUTTONS you will need for emulators.
I suggest a phone like the HTC Desire (or any fast phone with buttons) for emulations.

I have a NES emulator and I can map the keys to the SEARCH key or other keys my phone simply doesnt have. Most emulators work like that: They want you to press KEYS your phone doesn't have.

I also got an emulator for old games like Doom and Duke Nukem 3d- while it seems to run smooth (from what I can see when looking at the title screen) I CAN NOT start any game because they want me to press the trackball for ENTER -another key you won't have so you will be just stuck inside the main menu.

Overall the Galaxy S would be perfect if they just replaced the home button with a trackpad/ball.

So I really hope you didn't get the Vibrant yet.

oh edit: the Vibrant or G4 something is the Galaxy S with a physical keyboard. is it that one?

The galaxy s, vibrant on tmobile dunno y it different names only difference is that the u hav more touch butons anyway this fone is one of the most powerful phones on market people complain about lag sometimes but u can get a lag fix on the market which puts ur quadrant scores way past al over phones and there is an update now to put it on android 2.2 froyo touch buttons are easy dont listen to the other guy u dnt get stuck at main menus i play emulators all the time on my galaxy and its great my wife has a slide oit keyboard and touch keyboard is actually easier and quicker go with the vibrant i think its the best fone on the market screen is big fone is thin emulators run perfect from nes to psx get this u wont regret it. Other poweful fones use 1ghz snapdragon processors while the vibrant uses a 1 ghz hummingbird processor which is much better speed and graphics.
