Help X10 says update avaliable but doesnt update

Hi everybody.

Im all new to this but i have had my X10 since beginning of october on Vodafone. It came up with update avaliable on handset three days ago but when i wire it up to my lappy to update it says that it is upto date. at the min i have got 1.6. Is it the actual handset that is faulty or is it vodafone that havent released the update as i thought it wouldnt matter what network it was on to get the updates automatically?

What are u using to update it ? are u following the steps that SEUS has ? Download SEUS and use that app to Update ur phone .. if ur phone says that the update is available then you shouldn have any problems updating... .. SEUS requires you to turn off the phone and wait for 30 secs .. then while connecting the date cable ( while the phone is off) .. u need to hold down on the back key .. and then the software will promt you to let go .. It should then give you the option of updating ... if you need the links to SEUS .. let me know.. also if u have done this already and still havent reciebed the update .. there are other ways .. so let me know

If you could post the links for seus that would be great. Ive bin tryin to update through the pc companion on my lappy but to no avail. Bit dubeious bout external soft ware as thought sony would have done it straight away. Also does seus need to be installed on pc or phone. Thanks for the advice an i will keep you posted of progress

I was being bit thick on that lasr post. Will try turning off then connecting phone to see if that works as tried while it was turned on but didnt work

Ok Heres the link .. install this on your PC and then follow the on screen instructions .. Im sure it should work after this .. Keep me posted .. Oh and SEUS is from Sony ..

Got it all updated now thanks for your help. Took a while but got there just trying to get used to the new setup

Best way to make sure it works is to remove battery from the phone....plug USB cord into phone and other end into the computer and hold the back button. Then insert the battery back in the phone when you are asked to.

That video shows how to root the phone, but it is the same steps if you are using PC Companion or SEUS from Sony. They require you to start the phone in a type of flash mode when it instructs you to.

but mine is x10 mini pro.does both works same.i already got android 2.1.i want to update as i heard i can install the applications to my sd card then

i already have this update.this too shows update is available but while updating they ask to keep holding the back button while inserting the usb.i kept it holded for almost half n hr still no response...notification comes as flash player detected and then it stops...how long should i wait????

First, what are you trying to do? Update to what version.

You aren't doing it right.

Do it the way in the video if you are still trying to update.

Remove battery, plug the USB cable into the phone and into the computer, then go through the SEUS from Sony upgrade process (not using PC Companion) When it says to plug the phone into the computer while holding the back buttton, just hold the back button and put the battery in the phone.

If it doesn't work try another USB port on the computer....make sure you are using the USB cable that came with the phone. If you have a computer that has USB ports on the front and back, try the USB ports in the back of the computer to do the update.
