Help Copying Files Over USB Really Slow on Droid

I connected my Droid to my Ubuntu desktop via USB cable. I copied 12 music files (.wav files, an audio book) with total size of 392.2 MB. I expected this would take a minute or two. It took over 20 minutes! Anyone else see this slow copying?

Most of the time it seemed like nothing was happening (just some kind of waiting). When data was transferred, the reported speed was often around 500 to 600 KB/sec.

Your write speeds should be like 4-6MB/s.

I'm not sure if this is a Linux issue. I'm sure you checked, but are your USB ports 2.0?

I tested this on a second computer also running Linux (my laptop). The same transfer took about 15 seconds. It was super fast. So the first computer must have a problem. Seems the Droid is just fine :D
