i did nonstop. every time i did they told me because its a 4g phone and it downloads 10 times faster even when your not on 4g? i got told alot of things. they said because it runs 2.2. and i had to tell them thats only the Evo. but i got something out of all this complaining and questioning. they gave me 60 dollars credit to pay for the 10 dollar fee for six months. any one else tried this or has and success? i was happy they did that. they made my bill owed on the 2 only 27 dollars!

Quit your complaining, it's only $10 a month. You knew what you were signing up for when you bought the phone. Quit complaining after the fact. If you want to make a statement just don't buy a 4G phone.

I don't usually agree with people who simply say "Quit complaining" but this time I'm going to agree here. We all were told what the $10 fee was for and we all complained about it when it was announced and every day up until each of us bought an Epic.

I don't have 4G but I reasoned that the phone was worth it for me anyway. The larger screen and speed does let me use it more than my old Moment so I tend to browse more, download more, etc.

So, don't like it, return it and get something else. They have the Transform, Optimus (sp?), and a few others you can try that do not require the "4G" fee.

This was a very helpful, courteous, and above all gracious reply. I am certain that this will prove as inspiration for all. My hat's off and I offer the most heartfelt golf clap.

The 10$ FEE has nothing to do with 4G.
What that 10$ FEE does is UNCAP your 5gb month 3G data.
The believe with these high end multimedia devices,
that we will use more data as they to feature WiFi Hotspot.
I have to agree with the. 10$ is 10$ and you no longer have a cap.

This...

Sprint says the $10 charge is because these devices are so data intensive, one can go over 5 GB easily if you use it to its full potential. The Mobile Hotspot feature has nothing to do with it since that is a different fee altogether. Although, I believe Premium Data + Mobile Hotspot = Unlimited 3G tethering instead of 5 GB of 3G tethering.

tl;dr The $10 fee is NOT a charge for 4G access.

Well while u guys wanna sit here & get frustrated talkin about "it's not for 4g, how many times bla bla bla", although most of us know this, I took the advice of the OP on yesterday after reading his post jus for the heck of it; I now have a credit for life; they put me in a company discount, although I'm self-employed, but she said, well this will save u 25% from now on, that way, u want have to worry about the $10 premium fee which I myself kno that is what it is & not a 4g fee :p

Thanks for the motivation 'ItsBeenAwhile' :D

mhmmm. i called about 4 times and when someone over at sprint wouldnt do anything or kept making up bullshit...like they run 2.2 or there 4g and download even 10 times faster on 3g? no lies. but 4 time i called i got 60 dollars to my bill, for 6 months so i think im pleased for now!
I call BS on this.

Retention is notoriously handcuffed on what they can do now.

If you called many times and got $60 credits frequently, expect a "dear John" letter from Sprint soon cutting you off as a customer.

Every time I see these posts, I just wish Sprint had simply said new plans are now $10 more. Still would have left them price-competitive and without people thinking they're getting hosed. In fact, then people with 4G phones would be thinking "I got an extra speed feature that other phones lack."
Agree, but it's been beaten to death and back for almost half a year now. I mean WTF, either buy the phones and pay the $10 fee, or don't, and get a lesser phone that doesn't require it.

Doesn't get any more clear than that!

Plus even with the $10 fee Sprint is STILL cheaper than the competition.

I don't like the $10 fee, but these continuous non-ending crying and moaning is getting to be way beyond excessive.

For god's sake, be a goddamn man, grow up, and either buy the phone and suck it up, or don't, and don't pay the freaking fee! Simple choice. Quit crying about it already!

NOT COMPLAINING JUST COMMENTING

Sprint, Clearwire bicker over wholesale revenues from WiMAX smartphones - FierceWireless

Sprint "needs" the $10 to pay Clear for the 4g services that the 4g phones use. that is what the cost is for. but now PPCGeeks.com Will Sprint Remove $10 monthly premium for its EVO 4G handsets? something may change

we can only hope for the ones not on 4g. i don't mind paying the premium data charge even though i live outside a 4g area. but i would LOVE to be able to use 4g at speed

What Sprint does with the revenue with the fee is irrelevant. Sprint never told customers that the fee was to access the 4G network. That's not what it's for.

Getting a company discount has noting to do with the Premium Data fee. You just happened to work for a company that Sprint gives employee discounts. Congrats anyway, though!
