ARCHOS 10.1 or Advent Vega?

Ok so am looking at a smooth running tablet with upgrade capability to 2.3 when it comes out(app market mainly) my two choices to keep it below 300 (sorry samsung tab) pound are the archos 10.1 and advent vega.

The main parts of the spec am looking at are:

10inch screen
min 1GHz processor
wifi
smooth graphics
5hours battery life.

These two meet these specs however the advent i know doesnt have the android app market therefore limited apps, this is meant to be resolved when 2.3 comes out. would i be able to install apps using the .apk file if i can get astro or similar on the device?

Size of memory isnt important as i have a spare 16gb micro sd card.

All thoughts appreciated :)

The Files app comes with the Archos 101.

If you put the market apk on a micro SD, you can have google market running 2 minutes after finishing the setup screen. I installed it right in front of the distributor guy 10 minutes after receiving it (Setup screen + inspection for defects + rummaging through bag for sd card = 8 minutes).

You don't even need an SD card to sideload, just use the files app to browse your shared folders and install right from the other PC.

now the archos is winning anyone got details on the vega yet? and true mindwave the battery its a shame but it isnt the major point for me as i will always have a charger close to me while using it or have car battery to drain ;)

I believe the vega is another Malata SMB-A1002 Tegra2 Hybrid like the Viewsonic GTab, and the Flat Computing A10T... these are all ~$400US and the Tegra2 builds from manfactures to date have Not been ready for most general users... great hackers tablets as can be seen from our VS Gtab threads on Slatedroid as we now have 4? Custom versions to play with including a Cyanogen 6.1 port, and a built from stock AEOP about to be released for beta...

The Archos 101 is an Cortex A8 proc. so far more mature tech as same family of procs as the Moto Droid1 and it's ~$100 cheaper... But it's last year's Generation of product :>) Tegra2 will likely be Next Year's generation so depending on what you want it for Now! it might be an easy choice...

Is the archos shipping yet? I haven't seen it online at their site. If it's out, is there a review. I want a 10" screen before xmas, and I really really don't want to get an ipad. Now that Hajile showed you can get your apps on it, I am even more excited.

BTW, if you install the market on it, when you log in with your account, does it bring all the apps down automatically?

just thought if you can put the market.apk on the archos would that be possible on the vega? anyone got info on the marketplaces that are already on the tablets?

Sure as the Vega is I believe another Malata SMB-A1002 Hybrid repackage... then your best bet is likely the active section we have with multiple custom roms for it's sister product the Viewsonic Gtab over on XDA-DEV...

Viewsonic G Tablet - xda-developers

As there is a Market pack install, as well as clockworks recovery, flash 10.1, etc already working on these depending on firmware used...
