Hardware Version 0004

I have only had my Evo (version 004) for a few days and I would not recommend anyone to "upgrade" from a 003 for the sake of the power button. I don't have a 003 to compare to, but even if the button is sticking out a little more, it is still really hard to find and push. I actually need to look at top of the phone to find it sometimes.

Not just above the touch buttons, but along the edges of the screen as well. And yes, also through the ports at the bottom. It's really annoying at night, but not enough reason for me to exchange. What does drive me crazy is how I can touch anywhere OUTSIDE the home button and it still activates. All the way to the edge.

bought an evo on launch vers 0002, had bad light leakage right away, returned it on july 1st got a vers 0003 that was perfect, zero light leakage, it worked great until 2 weeks ago when the unlock/lock/power button went out, i took it to sprint they gave me a refurb vers 0003 with no light leakage, but with a broken volume up key and blown spkr, they didnt have any more refurbs so they ordered me another, a week later (like 5 days ago) i go to pick it up and it is a vers 0002, manufactured july 9th or something (looked on the inside of the battery cover), and it leaked light worse then any of the phones ive seen, i CALL sprint and tell them im not accepting anymore refurbs, and demanded a NEW replacement, it came today (in a skinny box like the refurbs do?) its a vers 0003, has a LITTLE light leakage, but manufactured 10/27/10, im assuming its a new one because thats like 2 weeks ago it was manufactured, i got the limited edition seidio active case and i cant even see the bottom of the screen, now im happy

-story over, take it for what its worth

If it came in a little box, its likely refurb. If it was new, it would come in the original box with all the accessories. To double check, open the Phone, and hit ##786#, scroll to Remanufactured. If it has a date there, its a refurb.

And FYI, that has nothing to do with this thread. This thread is about hardware version 4 phone. Version 2 and 3 differences have been beaten to death.

I just got my version 4 phone from asurion after cracking the screen on my version2. The buttons are definitely raised on the new phone, but the biggest difference I see between the two is the screen. The ver4 screen is noticeably yellower than the ver2 screen. Looking at the two I actually prefer my older screen, so I wouldn't be in a rush to get the newer phone. How do I find out what kind of screen I have?

Okay guys, I just got a version 4 on a direct replacement from Sprint and was surprised to see it...

The camera is a MAJOR difference...my wife has a version 2 and my previous was a version 3, they both had a bad blue tinge to it. This new version 4 looks AMAZING with no tweaks whatsoever. I've given examples below...

There is no difference other than the white balance. You must have your white balance set differently on your old phone.

Wow looks good. Like the previous message can you check if both settings are the same on both. I hate the blue tint in my pictures and videos.
