Root Official unrevoked 3.22 released!!

I couldn't root my HTC Incredible using unrevoked3. Is that due to the recent OTA update?

Not trying to be a d**k but there are a ton of threads regarding unrEVOked no longer working after the recent OTA update. A simple search could have answered this question. A fix should be released soon though so keep your eye on the threads and xda. Cheers

i am getting a new phone in the mail tomorrow because of the same optical joystick problem. i noticed that they are sending me the adr6300 which is the slcd version as far as i can tell. i had the amoled version, so if i don't like the screen i'll bitch and moan about not getting a direct replacement. i've also heard slcd versions have additional root issues. is this true? you think this will be fixed with the updated unrevoked?

i'm also curious as to whether it is possible for people to simply make replica roms of the official releases. it seems now that all roms try to do some customization which often leads to bugs in various places. if there was a direct replica, perhaps you wouldn't have to go through all the hassle to update once rooted (just install replica rom). maybe this just isn't possible.

Fwiw, my wife has the amoled version and I have the slcd version. I've looked at them both and the difference is slight to my eyes. My slcd seems crisper overall but that's just my opinion.

There is another thread discussing some problems with incompatible kernels with the new slcd screens. It seems the answer is to manually flash the rom of your choice and then flash a compatible kernel before rebooting. I'm anxiously awaiting the new rooting method myself so I can't try this solution, yet.

Fwiw, I use Virtuous Rom on my wife's Incredible with great success. It's mostly stock with most of the Verizon "crap" removed. There are also stock Rom's out there that are unmodified releases of the OTA's. I'm hoping the Virtuous Rom is unmodified enough to not effect my slcd Incredible.

I have the AMOLED dinc--Unrevoked Forever running Virtuous--and under Phone Identity it shows model number ADR6300. I think read somewhere that the SKU is different by a digit for the SLCD version, dunno about model #.

Not to go OT, but I received my replacement today, but haven't fired it up yet.

Though I am quite ticked that it's a refurb. If there is a hardware defect in a phone, it should warrant a new phone, not a refurb. I didn't lose, break, or have my original stolen. I show care to the electronics that I purchase.

I may try calling VZW and complaining about not receiving a brand new phone.

BTW, my model is ADR6300, was a pre-order and received on release.

Refurb I just received is an ADR6300 as well.

Per a screen shot of a VZW advisory on Android Central (Droid Incredible transitioning from AMOLED to SLCD touchscreens this month | Android Central), the SKU for the SLCD dinc is ADR6300VW3.

The SKU on the box that my (and my wife's) AMOLED dincs came in has a SKU of ADR6300VW2 .

Of course, a replacement from VZW may not have any SKU on the packaging...

my mistake. i'll just have to wait and see what they give me then. at first i was a little ticked about the refurb, but as long as there is no cosmetic damage whatsoever and everything works, i don't really care. at least with a refurb i should be confident everything works, haha. verizon was quiet helpful about the whole thing, though. i just called them up and told them the problem and they promptly put the phone on order which is set to be here already the next day. no second guessing me whatsoever.

if roms exist with the update already, can't root users just install those roms rather than going through the long-winded method of unrooting/rooting?? or is the update lower level than the rom? i guess that doesn't help any of us who are already updated though, haha.
