Tablet connectivity with USB hard drives

So the holidays are among us and I was ordered to compose a list of things I want the jolly fat guy(my father) to look for. I currently have a nice little AspireOne netbook that I enjoy bringing with me. I don't use it for much more than websurfing/email, some moderate gaming, and movies run off of my external hard drive. This has got me thinking, that I would prefer to just have a tablet. I don't want to get an iPad due to the lack of flash support(I use it quite a bit).

The main question would be, are there any Droid based tablets that have USB connectivity that I can connect my external hard drive to, and play movies off of?

Im not sure about tablets, but Android itself doesnt have usb host support, so no plugging in flash drives. I'm almost positive tables dont have host support either, but I may be wrong.

Archos has usb host support and can read usb harddrives. Unfortunately, it doesn't support ntfs and exfat. Only linux compatible ones like fat and ext2/3. I can't get it to work with my 320gig passport(ntfs), but it did work with my 30gig 2.5" usb case(fat).

There are people experimenting with ext3 in the archosfans forum so they can get past the 4 gig limit.

There was a piece of software that was called SwissArmy that would formate a hard drive/flash drive larger than 4gb. I us to have it, but got deleted. Either way, for a last resort, if you have a PS3, you can always it the PS3 to formate the drive to fat32.

As I put in a different thread, The flytouch 2 has pretty good usb support. I connected a usb thumb drive, and an external hard drive for testing. (Not all at the same time, of course)

It works pretty good.
