Hi Android forums friends. I have a simple question about the Ryanza OCLF app in the android market. Please I know I'm going to get some responses from ppl saying mean things but I'm trying to learn here and I did use the search option first and search on xda and other android related site. Well getting to the point. I've decided to root my phone and apply the lagfix(froyo taking to long for the US). But before I do it. Do i have to backup anything since Im using Ryanza app. I've searched up on this and nothing comes up telling me I have to backup anything. I know when you root it the other way (not using the Ryanza App). You have to backup things up. But with this app in android market, do i have to make any backups or I just download, click and use. No backup necessary and will this app really unroot if i dont want it no more. Thanks in advance to everyone who helps. I appreciated it alot
First off, people are ass-hats, especially in forums. I understand what it's like to search for answers and then have to turn to others for help only to be told to go elsewhere. That said, work it out yourself NooB!
Seriously though, before you do anything to your phone, it's always a good idea to back stuff up. Especially when you're changing how your phone operates. While OCLF won't alter most settings or app functionality, it will screw with how the OS inter-operates with handling apps and when it comes to system updates, it will definitely affect they way your phone receives them.
The first time I took an update on the Vibrant running OCLF, it soft bricked the phone. I'm not a developer, but I am a life long Linux nerd and I know that if you do anything to change the kernel of Linux it will alter the way it processes data, and completely muck things up whenever you try to update a file that was changed or missing, unlike Windows that will at least in a best case scenario tell you the file is damaged and give you an opportunity to repair or reinstall it.
What it comes down to is while OCLF won't do anything adverse to your phone now, it would be a great idea to backup anything you see relevant to have in the event you take a phone update and OCLF inhibits your phone from operating (at all) afterwards. This way you'll be able to restore it to a reasonable state, if not stock, should you have to restore it in the first place.
Good luck.
