I currently have a BB Bold 9700 it think its OK so far and i was thinking to change to the X10 mostly because i like Android OS and its touch screen and seems better ....(At the moment ) i don't text often i like messing around with my phone like playing games trying new apps browsing the internet and stuff like that and that seems like the main reason i want to switch to the X10

Please give your opinions thanks:)

UMy previous phone was the 9700, I have had my x10 for 3 months and never seriously looked back. I do miss the how BB condenses data which comes in helpful traveling overseas. If you are into BBM groups, there is no such thing yet for the Androids.

Other than that the x10 does most things better, specially web browsing and speed of operation in my opinion.

Hope this helps.

I'm a believer that the future is touch and the future is Android.
Android is inherently customizable, open market and open source, isn't being scrutinized and even harassed like Blackberry in some countries and the platform has attracted several manufacturers; ie no monopoly, unlike BB's and Apple's proprietary format. And with all these different handsets in so many hands the phone makers have an excellent opportunity to tweak and improve their phones and the way they utilize the Android system.

You'll spend hours customizing your Android if you decide to get one.

Never used a blackberry, never been tempted, never used an iPhone, never been tempted. But Android is just plain awesome.

I have been a Blackberry user for 6+ years, love they way they do email and the basics. But, I got to where I want more, bigger screen for web access, etc. Although my Curve is really small, even the newer models are only 3.2". My X10 should be here Tuesday, if I don't like in in 30 days, I might go back to a Torch, maybe.

ps. I can go 4 days on a battery charge, unless I use Wonder Radio allot while riding my bike.

To the OP; I would move out of BB and into Android, but NOT this phone! Grab a phone that has 2.1 and is working as it should and is phased in to receive 2.2 or higher. Do NOT get this phone, unless you are happy with 1.6. This applies to you if your in the US on AT&T. If your across the pond, then maybe 2.1 is available, but I have been reading a lot of bad press.. Honestly, if it were me, I would not go with this phone!! Especially considering they have already announced that the X12 is coming out in Feb 2011 which will be replacing this phone as the alleged flagship, lol...

It 2.1 is available for you that's great. Even as a 1.6 device it is excellent. You are not making a mistake in my opinion and for GSM, unless you have T-mobile, the only other choice is Captivate/Galaxy S and imho, other than the upgraded OS, it is a lesser device than the x10, including reception and call clarity.

Just my 2 cents.

Where are you in Canada? I beleive most Rogers' areas in Canada have upgraded..I'm in Southern Ontario and I've been on 2.1 for a couple weeks. Rooted and best battery life ever...I can last days on standby now :)

You won't be disapointed moving from the BB. My brother in law has a Bold and whenever I see him he always laments getting it over mine... but he needs the BBM for work.

I had the bold 9000 for about two and a half years, and through curiosity have upgraded to an X10.

Web access is much faster, the screen is bigger, but that's about it. I've had the bloody thing for nearly 2 weeks now, and have had to manually input (BB faulty) my contacts twice, and been told to update my phone software yesterday which has pretty much completely changed to phone again!

Don’t even get me started on emails!! On the BB i had two accounts set up. If I deleted a message on my handheld, it would update my email account online, and vice-versa. With the X10, even getting a notification that I've received an email seems an impossibility.

In conclusion, I think Androids may be the way forward, but I'm damn close to sticking my sim card back into my bold and chucking the X10 on ebay...

Not sure if my opinion is of use now but I worked for Rogers for 5 years in the past and we had the same line for customers when they walked in:

Do you want a phone for business or pleasure?
Blackberry - Business
Touch Phone - Pleaure

Why I say this is because blackberry has been a solution for business's across the globe for many many years and just recently touch phones have been making it's climb up the popularity market. That being said though, who wants to write an important email using touch and word correction when you have your full qwerty keyboard to do it with once and the right way. I would figure out what you want to use the phone for and go from there.... If this phone is for personal use I would go x10 allll the way!

This is how I see it:

Blackberry user = Im a smoooth talking business man or wanna be millionaire marketing machine and I need a BB to stay connected to all my other blackberry using millionaire friends. ....'damn am I great?'

Iphone user = hey loser, why arent you using an apple product? dont you know iphone is whats cool? I have to be the center of attention at parties and social functions. 'Hey look at my Iphone! its not a cell phone... its an Iphone!!!! get it right buddy'

Android user = Jeez, I have NO idea why you would want anything but an android device?! I think im pretty smart and tech-savvy so heck ya I had no other choice but getting an android. Ive programmed my phone to talk to my in cling-on now! hehe
