Root Nov OTA + Root + Mac?

Hey all,

I am quite happy with my phone as is (without the OTA) but the constant update notifications are getting to me.

I have seen this: Installing OTA to Rooted Android (Bob Denny's guide to Installing OTA on Rooted phones)

And some people in the thread "Details on Installing Nov OTA to Rooted Inc" said they were able to follow the directions even on a Mac.

However, I and some other people in that thread were having issues performing this procedure on a Mac.

Anyone have any Mac friendly, noob level appropriate, step by step instructions?

Thanks to all!!!

Just download and install the RUU from xda. Make sure you have s-off though. Once you install the RUU, you can install clockwork recovery and superuser (also found on xda-developers site). No computer needed. That's exactly how I did it. You may need to install busybox also if you have apps that require it.

Here's the link for the RUU.
[ROM]RUU_Incredible_C_Froyo_VERIZON_WWE_3.26.605.1_Radi o_2.15.00.07.28_2k4k_NV_1.70 - xda-developers

Do some searching for clockwork and superuser. It's on xda also. Install clockwork first. Don't forget to make sure you have s-off prior to loading the RUU or you will not be able to root.

Thanks, just a few last questions...

1) What kind of file is the RUU? .exe .zip (bc cant use .exe on a mac)
a) If it is a .exe, would anyone be able to send me the .zip?

2) I am already rooted, I already have S-Off, clockwork and superuser, so do I have to do anything?

3) Is there a step by step guide for applying an RUU?

THANKS!

I updated using the instructions without even using a computer. The steps that use a PC are only for moving the bloatware from /system/app.disabled back to /system/app and /system/framework.disabled back to /system/app. If you moved any bloatware you must know how you did it so just do the same thing to move it back. If you just deleted the stuff then you shouldn't update.

All the rest of the steps are easily accomplished by moving the required files to your sdcard either by removing the card from the phone and using a card reader to install the file on the card or use a wireless transfer method to your phone and use root explorer to move the files where you need them. I used "dropbox" to copy the files from my PC to the phone. I also have dropbox on my mac so I could have used the mac for the transfer just as easily.

Hope that help. I haven't used a RUU install yet so I can't help if you decide to go that route. However, i thought you would lose root and wipe the phone if you install the RUU?
