11/19/10 HTC Hero Maintenance Release 2.32.651.2

Ditto +1

It's about time they fixed the MMS contact number issue. That thing plagued me on day 1. Once I was rooted and installed a custom ROM it mostly fixed it, but what a PITA. Too bad I still won't be updating it since I like where my Hero is and don't feel like changing it right now.

I wonder if the Z4Root app in the Android Market can still root even if you have applied this update. I get that MMS issue maybe about once in every one thousand text messages. :D

I am sure someone, like NFX perhaps, will add these updates into their ROM soon enough. It was less than a week before he baked in the Android 2.1 build .7 fixes. ;)

This. I'll just wait for an updated rom from NFX.

The only issue is he needs to dummy proof a little better as it seems to still have issuers with some Hero's with the blue screen from hell, lol

MMS issue? What issue? I never had any issues with MMS while using the stock Sense. BTW, can you still get the update even if we are rooted? One thing they should really get fixed is the Facebook contact sync issue!

The issue varies by handset. Some people have the issue, others do not.

I read that this update does not remove the root. My question is can one root after applying this update?

Yeah, I am totally replying to myself here. I misread what I said I had read about this update not killing a root.

If you are rooted or want to root your Sprint HTC Hero, for now, do not apply this update. That is, at least, until some confirms that it will not prevent a root from working or that it will not remove a root.

I see no need to update either. I'm rooted running .6 and it works just fine. Don't want to invite sprint into my phone to screw up a good thing............ Besides my battery usage is terrific now. I could get two days out of it if I had too.............

I gave Sprint Zone a look.. updated it and it said I had a profile update available.. so I checked it out.. then I got a text from myself that read '//voice check' Not sure what that is.. it didnt seem to do anything.. I got 2 more of those same texts.. then I rebooted my phone to see if that would make anything happen.. nothing so far.. I think Im gonna lay off Sprint Zone for a while til I know what the hell I'm doing!

Just root problem all solved and no need to upgrade

Well, I hope this new update actually does something. The last update was reported to have solved the dialing lag, among other things. However, since the last update, my wifes phone (HERO) is still as sluggish as it was before.
