OP: not that I doubt you per se, but how do you know it was that particular app and not something else?

I must admit that a battery app which sends SMS is suspect.

Better Battery UK requires these permissions:

Services that cost you money
send SMS messages

Your messages
receive SMS, read SMS or MMS, edit SMS or MMS

Network communication
full Internet access, view network state, create Bluetooth connections, view Wi-Fi state

Phone calls
read phone state and identity

Hardware controls
control vibrator, change your audio settings

System tools
bluetooth administration, change Wi-Fi state, retrieve running applications, automatically start at boot, restart other applications

thanks for the heads up. i never would have thought of this sorta thing and i have to admit to often just clicking 'i agree' and moving ahead without actually reading anything.

gonna have to be more careful.
