Hi everyone.

New member here, hope, and guess, someone can help me :)

I've always been keen on TrackID on Sony Ericsson phones when that feature first was introduced, and happy to see when Shazam was released for other systems. I've used Shazam on my Android phones so far, but i am thinking that with 100,000 apps out there, it should be possible to find an alternative that DOESN'T charge you if you want to find more than 5 tags/month.

Can anyone tell me of a simular app? Maybe even with extra features if possible, but first and most important thing, same features as Shazam today but totally free!

Thanks for all your responses in advance..

If you are happy to download from places other than the official Market I managed to find an old version of Shazam a couple of months ago (version 1.3) which doesn't have the five-tag limit, and which still works. Don't ask me where I found it, because I can't remember, but you might try googling around.

Whoopie doo for all Soundhound fans! But the thread is about music-identification software which does not have a monthly limit!

And soundhound does not have a limit if you pay for it. Unfortunately, I don't think there are any current music id apps out there that are free and have unlimited identifications.

The free version of Shazam is unlimited only if you downloaded it prior to when they started limiting.

But if you know of other alternatives then please share :)

Great! Thanks everyone, it seems to work great. However, is there also a limit to the number of tags you can use in SoundHound?

Yeah, i know Shazam full version isn't expensive, but it's a matter of princip. Fair if you've made an amazing app that no one can create and you are unique, but i think competing with free apps is better if those apps are available ;)
