Does anyone know who supplies the pre-installed weather app on the Home page of the Desire HD? I have found that it is not very accurate; my friend's app on his iphone (Yahoo, I believe) is better. Can you change the standard one on the HD? Also the standard app does not support many towns in the UK.

I've tried a few weather apps because the default one was a bit rubbish, but someone on this forum mentioned "Animated Weather" and it is cracking.

Gives weather forecasts for different times of the day, quite accurately too (it knew it wouldn't snow today before BBC did), but the biggest selling point is what it looks like.

Android Weather Widget - Android Weather Widget - Best Animated App

Even the free version (you may have to get this using a PC) is good enough

Not to help much but I've given up on any weather systems for the phone as none of them are accurate. I live in Cornwall and the only time you can rely, even partially, on a weather forecast is when you wake up and look out of the window. Not just the phone widgets, but people like the UK Met Office who are a major joke, just get it so wrong it's unbelievable, especially, in the MO's case, where they spend millions of faster servers.

Sorry, rant over!

Dave

PS: some of the weather systems do have pretty animations to look at though ...

I'm not disagreeing with you, because I know that some areas have micro-climates that make forecasts quite unreliable. But, generally, I am amazed at how often the forecaster do get it right. I expect this is because I'm old enough to remember the days before satellites and computers were able to provide so much data and so much analytic power. As a kid, I remember that next-day forecasts were often totally wrong, and five-day forecasts were next to useless.
