Ok, I thnk I MAY have figured out my rom flashing problems. What is the root on an sd card? When I download a rom or whatnot, I just thtow it on my sd card. If I go into file manager it can be see on the /sdcard. I do not need to click anything to find it. Is that the root, or am I missing something here? Thanks

Root of sdcard just means not putting it in a folder on the card. For Rome kernels etc u can put them in folders. Then u navigate in cwr to them when u pick install from sdcard

Agreed. Bob-o you definitely want to start making folders, as your number of zip files grows it will make organization easier. Honestly, I have separate folders for kernels, roms and themes and one I just call other cwm zips. Those get further divided into DI01 and DJ05 as needed and voodoo and non voodoo as well. Keep it organized and make life easier. Also I keep what I have on my sdcard [and more] on my harddrive so I can quickly and if needed retrieve things and or throw something on dropbox if someone needs something outdates aka something released 2 days ago:p

So by not puttin into folders, is that why I had problems? Also do I put them into clockwork folder or make one called roms? Also....I got the dj05 link and files last night:D. Muahaha. I may give yhis one more go...for dj05...then I may go back to stock if that don't take. Dj05 makes me nervious though...gotta flash the modem...:(

I make a folder for Rome one for kernels one for themes etc. Don't put them in your clockwork folder.

I think you just got a bit overwhelmed with all the info out there: )

I saw th dj05 link last night that they got dj01 restore files. Does that mean if something messes up I can go back to dj01. And if I flash the modem, and it don't work, if I restore, will it put me back to dj01 withoit having to flash the modem again? If I have to reflash the dj01 modem, and it don't take, then what? I made two folders, roms and kernells. When I save the zip files, just put them in corresponding folders and I will be able to access them? The dj05 .tar file is what gets flashed in oden correct? But before I do that make sure I got jts clean rom for dj05 in the rom folder? And don't worry, I won't be doing any of this till I have someone talking me through it! You guys need to set up donate accounts for people to donate to your "get me out of brick" fund! :p.

If you dont have folders you probably just could not find it, zips will always be last on the list in clockwork so you will have to do a lot of scrolling down potentially

Yes as s44 said now with modem you can go to complete DI01 stock if needed. Thats a funny idea get me out of brick fund. :p Sadly, having some inside information on what dev's make based on donations all we'd likely be able to get is a cup of coffee. Seriously, though everyone in this thread, in the borked support thread does this because we love the SF and everyone of those gals and guys is a genuinely nice and helpful person.
dev's make $$ of their work but not a nickel answering questions on IRC or xda or wherever. Its pure love of the game kinda stuff

I figure 20 bucks for unbricking me is a good amount. Better than 600 for new phone!

I found the roms when I flashed and they rebooted and all but they never got past the loading screen they just froze up...at least I think they froze...so I pulled batt booted into cwr and restored. I never really got past the 5 minute mark...I freaked at that point.

Yeah u can return to DI01 no problem now

I know a lot of us are somewhat busy the next few days but if you want next Monday or something I can take u step by step through it....its not that complicated though and I'm sure someone else could do it before then

Really its put a dj05 ron on ur sdcard (any of it's with a kernel is fine so superclean. .5 would be good)

Turn off ur phone

Hold down the volume button and plug in the USB cord and it'll put ur phone in download mode

Open odin.

Click on the pda button

Load the dj05 modem

Click start

Let odin do its thing

Should say success in the dialogue

Boot into clockwork. Install from sdcard

Navigate to the rom and select it

Let it install

Reboot

Let the phone alone for awhile it ll prolly. B on the boot animation for a few minutes maybe 10.

Once it boots up you are on Dj05

Yea I figured this weekend is a bad one. Monday I'm hunting again. Tuesday night maybe. Or wait till the following weekend. I'm sure if someone is there with me, it will be ok. Before I jump though I would like to make sure everything I need is on phone and laptop. No sense in missing something:D. Well I will give a holler when I got time and someone else has time. You all have a wonderful turkey day!

I was reading the dj05 link page and it says to name jts super clean update.zip. I already have and update.zip file? Do I erase that one? What is that one?:/ and I gather I don't want to put that in a rom folder. Just put it on sd card correct?

Ignore that...for whatever reason digi or whoever made that otherwise useful page had a brain meltdown when typing that. :(

I thought that was cwr but wasn't sure. That's what it is correct? Good lord I need cwr to restore...and I do that more than flash:D. lol. So when I save it, just leave it the way my computer has it saved. I think its jt0.5clean.zip or something. And leave it zipped too.

Yeah its best to leave it as what jt named it. U might now want to make a dj05 rom folder on ur sdcard to avoid confusion and for easier navigation
