Help How to share my app with another phone

Is it possible to share my application that I've downloaded from the APP store with another phone? I can't find the APK file anywhere on my phone for an app that I downloaded from the ANDROID app store, and I wanted to share this app with a friend.

Is this possible? Can I find the installed APP and take it off of the phone to place on another phone?

if the app is/was a free app you can use another app called Bump to do it. Ive only used it once but it worked. If I recall correctly the other phone will be directed to the proper place in the Market. If you have a stand alone apk from another free source you should be able to select that file and transfer it as well. If it was a paid app it wont let you do it. You can also transfer pics and tunes that way as well.

Use Astro to create a backup of the app on your device. The backup file will be in the Backups/Apps folder on your sd card. Then create the following folders on the sd card of the 2nd device, Backups/Apps.

Copy the backup file from your sd card to the 2nd device's sd card's Backups/Apps folder. Go to Settings, Applications, and allow the installation of apps from Unknown sources (non-Market apps). Use Astro to navigate to the backup file and select the file. A pop-up window should ask if you want to launch App Manager to load the app on the device.

On your phone, go to Settings: Applications...
Choose the app you wish to share.....
Scroll down the Application info page until you see the "Share" button...
Press that button and choose to email, gmail or text a link to the app's source.

This is almost the way I do it except, back it up with astro, back out into the backups folder, longpress on the app/file, press share, and send the apk via Gmail.

That's not "sharing". You paid for the app for a single user, so giving the app to somebody else isn't really kosher. Unless you also delete it from your phone, that is. There are situations where IMO this type of action could be justified, so just be mindful of the rights of developers to compensated for their hard work.

But if it's not a paid or private app, then your ok.. Besides, alot of apps now are requiring a serial code that you have to apply after purchasing apps, others check for a license online before you can use them. Google is really starting to crack down on pirated apps.

Agreed. However, I have at least 2 apps that I use that are no longer available in the Market. I'm just glad I saved the backups, or I wouldn't be able to use them anymore. FYI, they were free apps, not paid.

Same here, and what about sharing apps that were paid for but are no longer available; is it wrong to share those apps?
