Getting ready to leave AT&T in December. If I go with Sprint I was originally going to look at the Transform but have read about issues and lagging plus it's Eclair and about $100 more than an Optimus. I like Sprint's everything family data plan the best.

The Optimus seems to be speedier and has Froyo.

Any thoughts?

Would love the EVO but it's too expensive.

My other choice is T-Mobile and the Mytouch 3G Slide/Defy or Optimus T

I can't wait until January. I want a phone now but I don't want t pay the Early Termination Fees with less than 2 months to go.

T-Mobile has the phones I like such as the Moto Defy (love the Ip67 rating) and the G2, mytouch 4G,etc. Just that Sprints free mobilbe to mobile any network is a real strong selling point on a family plan.

I could live witht he Optimus (I think) for my needs.

I got the Optimus S today and I would defiantly recommend it! If you need a keyboard or Sense then wait for the Knight/Speedy but if not this is a great little phone! :)

You couldn't pay me to switch to T-Mobile. Unless of course I got no Sprint service where I lived. ;)

What's wrong with T-mo? Where I am in NC, we have 6 4G metro areas for T-mo.

Care to elaborate?
I also came from Moment.

Here are a few things that make the Optimus better:

1. better GPS (it works great).
2. Android 2.2 out of the box
3. better form factor - smaller / sleeker
4. same resolution, but doesn't look pixelated on the 3.2" screen on the LG Optimus
5. Feels more solid than the Transform
6. Very responsive, no lag at all.

I wouldnt switch to T-Mobile either unless it was the only mobile provider left on earth to be honest.

I picked up a Optimus S 2 days ago and i absolutely love it!!

I own many diff devices with every different OS and this is my first Android based phone and its amazing for a free phone.

I went to Best Buy on Wens to see if they would match Radioshacks price which was free and they did it no problem. So i didnt have to wait till today to deal with all the shoppers to pick it up for free.

Honestly not counting screen size IMO the Optimus doesnt differ much at all from the Evo. Of course the Evo is 4G and runs a Snapdragon but as for features and speed there really isnt much of a difference. Plus the Optimus has much better battery life than the Evo does.

Id recommend the Optimus S to anyone looking to pick up a new device in a heartbeat. I came from primarily using Blackberrys and was using a 8530 for the past 8 months. At first i thought coming from a QWERTY i was gonna have trouble with the virtual keyboard but i must say its awesome.

Def go for the Optimus over the Transform, i havent experienced one bit of lag so far and ive downloaded a few apps and a new Launcher.
