Help Google Sync Security

I would really like to know if it is realistically secure to sync my phone with Google Calendar and other Google tools. The Calendar website is not secure because it is not an https site so that means all my calendar stuff is open to the web. Put this together with my phone contacts list and some unscrupulous person could work out where I live and when I'm out of the house.

What do you all think about this?

I use Google for everything. My Gmail, I list all my email and phone numbers in google contacts and Calendar.
I tried loading my calendar and it loads in https://. And if you choose not to share with anyone, then no one but you can see it.

I understand your on the side of caution, but I believe google makes things as secure as possible.
