Accessories What case do you have?

I'm looking to buy a case for my Z. ATM I'm using an old OLD ipod case which used to fit my Hero perfectly but is now a little bit small for the Z. So which case/pouch do you have? Can you make any suggestions? Maybe something that can clean the screen too.

I was very picky when it came to looking for a case and i looked all over looked at genaric ones and even camera cases, because i wanted a case or sleeve that my phone would fit in with the otterbox shell on it, I finally found that a case with clip and magnetic flap made for the samsung galaxy s fit perfectly a wee bit snug at first but after a few days it loosened up just nicely...

Anyone tried any leather cases that stay on the G2, as opposed to pouches or universal cases? I have a vertical leather flip case for my Nokia and I love it. You look like you're talking on an old-school phone but who cares? Great protection, classy looking, and easy to use, these things go a long way with me. Bought it on Ebay.

I want one for the G2.

I hate those pouches because they're useless just when you need them -- when slipping out of your hand. The flip case is also great because it turns off the screen when you close it. My proximity sensor doesn't seem to react to purses or pockets before opening all kinds of apps. Is it supposed to? My Nokia did. I'm too lazy to use the power button.

I've got a Case-Mate 'Barely There' case (hopefully) arriving tomorrow. I've high hopes for it as a couple of friends have them on their Desires and as the name suggests they add very little extra bulk but good protection.

How about this? Or this typically classy PDair version? Both look to have very secure mounting for the handset.

Slug - I have been looking at the CM Barely There case - has yours arrived yet? Is it any good?
I was thinking of maybe getting that and a screen protector.

I currently have the HTC S540 but bizarrely (despite being designed by HTC) it doesn't have a hole where the speaker is and so stupidly muffles the phone volume a lot.

I tried getting the Noreve Tradition case for the Desire Z but found it is so badly designed that it pulls the top half of the phone (and therefore potentially stresses the hinge) every time you open the case, so I sent that back immediately.

Yup, it finally arrived yesterday due to weather-related delays.

Is it any good?

I'm very impressed. The fit is excellent, clipping securely to both halves of the handset and all cut-outs are precisely aligned. It lives up to its name too, adding hardly any bulk.

CaseMate supply a screen protector in the box, along with a handy microfibre cleaning cloth. I can't vouch for the protector's quality yet as I retained the HTC one I had already fitted.

what screen protector do you have?

I'm still using the HTC one (SP P400) I put on three months ago. I doubt it will last the 15mths that the Clear Armor on my Hero has, but thus far it's proving scratch-resistant and is undetectable in use.

An update on the case after a week's use:
Removing the lower half to access the battery isn't as tricky as I thought. It's quite easy (provided you don't bite your nails!) to disengage the tabs holding it onto the front edge of the keyboard, then it can be pushed off the rear edge. No problems refitting, and the moulded securing tabs themselves appear to be designed to last.

Port/button access is good; no problems with USB cables, headsets etc. The power and volume controls are nicely recessed, making it much less likely to activate either when removing from a pocket. One minor niggle is that there's less room below the trackpad now, making downward scrolling slightly trickier. Making the cutout larger would compromise the case's rigidity though, so it can't really be considered a fault.

I found a good case for my Desire Z.

I saw this case on an auction site in China and asked a friend who is from China to help me get it from there.

Here is the package:

Here is one nice thing about this case. The back piece is transparent with white edges around it so the original design isn't covered. With some other cases that cover the whole back, the phone kinda looks an iPhone after putting the case on (especially if you have white or black cases), which is not something I want.

Another good thing about this case is that instead of have all the holding clips around the 4 corners, the clips are in the middle of the top and bottom edges of the 2 shells. They clip on to the little hole on top and bottom of the phone.
This way, the gap between the top half and bottom half of the phone won't be enlarged by the thickness of the clips like those cases with clips at the 4 corners.

But this case is by no means perfect. The polish and finishing could need some better works. But I am not complaining since it is quite hard to find a nice case for this phone.

It doesn't add much thickness to the phone either.

The top part of the shell at the edge right above the keyboard side also have its edge shaved inward so that is will not block the keyboard when it's opened.

A lot of cases out there would make the phone look ridiculous, but this one sure made mine looks better.
