Alright, so I am new to this forum and the Android platform. Lurked here a little bit but decided to take the plunge. Ordered a Samsung Epic 4G today. Since my old iPhone (bought 2 months after the initial release) is finally giving up the ghost. I figured I'd get a new phone.

I had it narrowed down to 3 phones:
iPhone 4 (since I had an earlier one and a "few" apps on it).
Epic 4G.
EVO 4G.

So after a bit (okay like 2 months..... :) ) of waffling I bit the bullet and ordered the Epic 4G. Plus the price was way to good to pass up. $99.99.

It should be here next week. So I am a bit excited and a bit nervous.

I lucked out in being able to handle both the Epic 4G and the EVO 4 as co-workers happen to have both.

Welcome! Good choice. The thing that is intimidating about android is what makes it great. It is highly configurable (open source). Take your time getting to know it. You can use it on any level you want, from basic smartphone user to superuser (rooted phone) who puts on exotic roms and themes. Your choice.

Welcome to the world of Android. :)

Thanks!

Yeah it's more the nervous about new platform than anything. The hacking/rooting is not an issue. Old school Linux nerd from back in the day (Slackware and Yggdrasil). :)

Though I am unsure yet how much I need to change. Likely it will be mostly default apps that I will never use and maybe a few other things.
