I currently have Xperia X10a on AT&T with smartphone data plan. Can I buy Galaxy tablet and use the SIM card from phone whenever I need data access?

I mainly plan to use my tablet while at home using WiFi. But when I go on vacation I want to browse on it using my phone SIM without having to pay for another plan to AT&T.

i have tried switching the sim card out of the Captivate and my Tab and it does not work. From what I have been told, the APN that the Tab is programmed for "broadband" will not let it work with the sim card from the phone. That is why people are flashing their roms and changing the APN's to the same as the phones to use it.

Try changing the APN of the Galaxy Tab. ( I looked at AT&T's website and did not see the Tab available yet? I have the Samsung Galaxy S and have played with the Tab at T-Mobile.)

Go to Settings/Wireless Networks/Mobile Networks/Access Point Names/

Change the User Name to "WAP.CINGULARGPRS.COM"
Change the password to "CINGULAR1"

You need to do this while your Captivate SIM card is in the Tab. If this doesn't work you don't have much to loose.

I have been thinking of buying one. The T-mobile ones have been hacked to allow phone calls.
