Hi Guys

I am new to android and new to forums so still in learning phase.

I was just wondering if is it possible to connect my DHD via a 3.5mm audio jack to my car audio system and get the audio controlled via the audio system ie next song or pause etc...

Thanks

Almost certainly not as the 3.5mm jack is purely audio. No data. All you get is volume control via the head unit control.

Are you sure Dave? The included HTC headphones (which are quite good I think) have a next/previous control - so this functionality must be present. No idea how it works though.

OK. The headphones have a 3 ring plug if you look. You need a 2 ring plug for stereo AFAIK (most 3.5mm connection cables have this plug) and a single ring for mono. The 3rd ring must be the data somehow (no need to know how it works in this case!). You would need to be able to send the same data signals to the DHD from the head unit as come from the headphone controls now. If there is either a) a head unit that does this or b) an add-on unti to do this I've never heard of one.

Personally I'd get a BT head unit with the A2DP profile so you stream things. Even then I'm not sure if that allows the functionality the OP wants.

I do have bluetooth in my car, and with my e71 it use to work great was able to play music on via bluetooth and by pressing the dialing button on steering wheel i use to get the voice dialing feature. But none of that works with my DHD it connects to car's bluetooth and works if someone is calling, but if i play music it doesnt work neither the voice dialing works when i press the dialing buttion on steering wheel :(

that the only thing i didnt like about this phone... other wise its a great phone.
Any ideas or suggestions for this??
