Which VZW Droid should replace my Moto Droid?

Jus a little background: I have a launch day Moto Droid. Still love it, but it does have some lag issues that are becoming increasingly annoying. I think the issues are caused by either the fact that I'm rooted running one of the first Froyo releases, the fact that the Swype keyboard isn't really meant for this phone, the dropping of the phone (which also cracked the screen, though that doesn't bother me) or some combination of the above. Regardless of the cause, I'm ready for a new phone.

I've been out of the loop, but since I started back in, I've noticed that Gingerbread is on the verge of being released and one of my biggest concerns is buying a new phone that's already outdated. Whatever phone I get, I want it to be able to handle Gingerbread with no problems.

I'm leaning towards the Droid 2, because I like having a qwerty keyboard plus Swype. Will the Droid 2 be OK with gingerbread? Or, should I wait until phones are released that were designed with gingerbread in mind? How lon 'til such phones will be released? Or, do y'all have any other suggestions?

Oh and I forgot to mention the whole LTE thing that appears imminent from VZW?

Will current phones work on that network? Or will I need to wait for an LTE phone?

current 3g phones will not work on the new VZW LTE network but according to VWZ the whole network will not be switched over to LTE until sometime in 2013 and we all know verizion so it might be even later... so if you update now you will more then likely be able to update again when the LTE network comes out... as far as phones now i if you wanna keep the physical keyboard the droid pro or droid 2 if not go with the HTC Incredible or the Droid X

I'll probably go to Droid 2, should I have any concerns regarding gingerbread? I'm hesitant to buy a new phone if it won't be getting the newest update (soon). I'm not married to a physical keyboard (although I am engaged to Swype), so if there is a better phone out now or rumored to be coming out within the next couple months, I'd certainly consider it.

I've read that the Droid 2 has Moto Blur on it...is this a plus, minus, or no effect? (perhaps I should venture to the droid 2 forum for this one)

Is it correct that LTE will come with tiered pricing (not unlimited)?

Nobody knows for sure yet. Time will tell in the future though.

humm i am not to sure about gingerbread i am not ever sure if i am getting it on my incredible and stuff so only time will tell for me as for other phones check the VZW website for new relies but i would say the droid x is prob the best on VZW for now

I would consider the droid 2 global. A bit of higher specs, and of course, as the name implies, if you travel, you will be able to use it around the world. It is going to feel like a speedier droid 1 in your hands for the most part. My understanding is that only a select few samsung phones have been officially stated to be getting 2.3

you might want to keep in mind that the D2, D2 Global, and the Droid X all have the encrypted bootloader, which means custom ROMs really limit you. If Gingerbread isn't released for those phones, then you wont find any Gingerbread ROMs for your phone at all.
