Pro's and Cons of rooting the Samsung Fascinate

I just got my Droid Phone and already I hate bing along with a bunch of other crap that verizon put on here to kill my battery with. So I am wanting to root the phone so as to have my way with the thing lol. I'm aware this voids the Warranty etc etc. So can anyone point me in the right Direction as to getting started?

Thw bloatware doesn't necessarily drain your battery. More often than not it takes up space on the system partition that you can't use otherwise.
