Help turn off apps

This really isn't a dumb or sarcastic question - why do you want to kill apps (and if you wish, which are bothering you)?

I'll chime in on his behalf because I am technically curious why certain apps insist on running, even though I have no need for them. (I have my suspicions why, however.)

Using TasKiller by AxDroid I note that Amazon mp3 store, A Online Radio, and AppBrain show up any time the WiFi connection restarts; that's their trigger apparently. They show with green tags which denotes "is terminated app not running, must be killed first". (That makes no sense to me, if it's terminated then what is left to be killed??) A few others show with a white tag which is an "app in memory not consuming cpu"; these are useful ones like the SMS listener and the contact list.

Taken to its logical extent, if I load enough apps on my phone I could conceivably run it out of memory if these apps all decide that they are so important that they simply MUST run, or at least occupy some memory to show up in TasKiller. Who needs this?

I also wonder if they are reporting back to the mother ship in the background? I definitely do not need this. It's nobody's damned business where I am physically or on the Internet unless I authorize it.

Thanks for your insight into this.
