Accessories Trident Case preorders have begun

Interesting looking case.
I feel like it's maybe too hip looking for it's functionality.
Doesn't seem like it would be a construction workers favorite look, but perhaps more of young hipster's, which would make me question the level of ruggedness and added bulk it offers.
I also don't see it being offered with a holster which definitely raises questions.
I'm just really not sure who the target market is for this case...

One issue I see with this is case is for those of us who already have screen protectors. The case has a built-in screen protector. Can this be removed? Or would we end up with two screen protectors (one on top of the other)?

The FAQ page indicates the existance of a removable belt clip for the Kraken case but the pictures on the DX page don't show it. Does this mean that it's not included? Not avaiable? or just not pictured?

"RELEASE...THE KRAKEN!!!!!"

Tsk...tsk...tsk... Quoting Clash of the Titans on a Friday morning Steven??? LOL

As someone else mentioned, it looks beyond bulky for an already somewhat large case. Hell, I think Otterboxes offerings look smaller than this.

Also, I'm totally getting a "Nerf Armor" vibe, at least from the colored variants:

I emailed Trident Case on Saturday regarding this Kraken case.

It struck me as odd that the iPhone Kraken case had a removable belt clip but none of their other Kraken cases seemed to. I asked if this would be available at some point in the future for the Droid X case.

I also asked about their built-in polycarbonate screen cover. My Droid X currently has a Steinheil screen protector on it and I'm not wanting to remove it. I was curious to find out if they'd done any testing with their screen cover over an existing one like a Steinheil or a Zagg. Would the two scratch each other? Reduce sensitivity of the touch screen?

Hopefully I'll get a response from them shortly...

I had an otterbox on my 3G and I had a film screen protector on there too. I took the film one off and just used the built in one with the otterbox. It is much better than the film ones. The film one only protects from scratches. It will in no way protect your screen from something hitting it. The built in ones in the otterbox or this Kraken case are designed to protect your screen in the event of something striking the screen. Now how much protection is another question but I've seen my old otterbox take a pretty good beating and the phone inside was still perfect.
